Course description 2018 marks the exciting introduction of the newest energy code – the 2018 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). This course provides architects, builders, building code officials, and policymakers who are committed to providing homeowners and building occupants with the optimal degree of comfort, safety, and energy cost savings the details on how the 2018 IECC differs from preceding codes.

Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) available from the International Codes Council (ICC).

Your instructors: Ken Baker: Commercial Building 2018 IECC Ken teaches energy code compliance and implementation strategies throughout the U.S. and has worked on energy code development and implementation since 1986. Ken was the Senior Manager, Codes & Standards for the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance for the past 4 years. He has recently returned to a managing partnership in Open Spaces Northwest, and is looking to continue his work assisting jurisdictions, contractors and designers in their understanding of how energy code s and design and construction best practices align.

Les Lazereck: Residential Building 2018 IECC Les Lazareck, CEM, is a building performance expert focused on maximizing the comfort, health, safety, energy efficiency and durability of new and existing commercial and residential buildings based on building science through his company Home Energy Connection, LLC founded in 2006. Les provides training and certification for RESNET Home Energy Raters (HERS) and Building Performance Institute (BPI) and is an approved instructor for Nevada Energy Auditor licensure. He is also approved to provide IECC, ENERGY STAR and DOE Zero Energy Ready Home verification and is a certified ICC Residential Energy Inspector.

The 2018 IECC: Good for Your Customers, Good for Nevada, Good for Our Nation “Americans spend more than $200 billion each year on their energy bills and a recent Department of Energy report found that a modest 4 percent to 5 percent increase in the stringency of the building energy code could cumulatively save consumers $126 billion on their energy bills from 2010 to 2040. Those are real savings for building owners and occupants and the reduced energy use from such improvements as more efficient windows or thicker insulation also helps avoid the pollution from fossil fuel-fired electricity generation that fuels climate change.” Source: National Resources Defense Council (NRDC)
