Weather Cancellation Policy for Summer 2018 Sports/Outdoor Camps This year, indoor gym space for a back up rain/weather location is not available for our outdoor sports camps. As a result, we have arranged with our program partners to cancel when the weather is either severe or forecasted to be severe before the start time of a camp and to reschedule a makeup on Friday of the same week. This plan is in place every week that we host an outdoor camp, June 11-August 10.
Frequently Asked Questions: What happens if it rains? We make the decision to cancel at least one hour before the start of the camp if the weather is severe or forecasted to be severe during the time of the camp. What constitutes Severe weather? If there is a steady downpour, thunder and/or lightening, high winds, or any National Weather Service issued watches or warnings occurring during the time of the camp
What happens if the weather turns severe during the camp? The CES Youth Manager along with the Camp Director will make the call to move camp participants indoors to a safe location. We will provide supervision and Indoor activities until the end of the camp. You do not have to pick up your child early unless you want to.
Are there other options for my child on a day when an outdoor camp is cancelled? We do not offer a care option when camps are cancelled. However, if you need care when there is a weather cancellation, we encourage you to pre-register with Kids Club/Wise Guys so you can access the “drop in” option for your care needs. Registration opens on February 15 and the registration fee is waived until March 31. Please note that drop-in care is granted on a space available basis. Here is a link to the website.
What happens if I cannot attend the makeup date on Friday? Edina Community Education does not offer refunds due to weather related cancellations and we do our best to schedule a makeup session. During the summer the best option each week is the Friday of the camp week.
How will I know when a camp has been cancelled? We will notify you by email and/or text message. Please check your user dashboard to make sure that you have listed a current email address (one that you check regularly) and a cell phone number that you have authorized us to use for text messages. If you are unable to access email or text messages, please call us (952-848-2952) and we will make other arrangements for contacting you.
