FROM THE PRESIDENT HELLO MEMBERS AND FRIENDS! The NJ Chapter spent the winter kicking off the new year, and the spring and summer have passed by rapidly. In January, we installed new officers (see article on page 2). Among them is me. I will serve as President for 2014. I am no stranger to NJ RIMS, having served as a Director since 2002, and also as Secretary and Vice President in years past. Both Kris Wrzos and Karyn Connor have also been on the Board for several years. Kris will chair the Golf committee this year, and Karyn will continue as Membership Director as well as Secretary. Board member Ike Jenkins has taken on the chair role for the Education committee. Danielle Roth will take over the Communications committee. See page 2 for more on Danielle. Save the date for our Seventh Annual Risk Management Day to be held on November 11. More information on this event will follow and exhibitor opportunities will be available.

The chapter was excited to learn that the first NJ RIMS Spencer scholarship was awarded this spring. In case you missed the news, in 2013 we announced that the NJ Chapter is funding a $100,000 named scholarship through the Spencer Educational Foundation. The proceeds of our golf outing will be dedicated to this award. The 2014 outing is coming up on October 1. At this writing, golf foursomes are almost sold out. We can always use more sponsors though! See page 7 for more information about the Golf outing and sponsorship opportunities. During the summer hiatus the Board met to plan the programs for 2015. Thanks to all the folks who responded to our inquiry regarding topics that would be of interest. We reviewed each suggestion and will finalize the program in the coming weeks. In other news, we recently polled primary deputies to request changes to our by- laws. RIMS gave chapters the right to include Associate members (generally brokers, underwriters and service vendors) on chapter committees. We hope to amend our by-laws to document this, which requires a majority vote from member companies. If you missed our email, please expect a follow-up from a board member. It seems like ages ago, but several of us attended the national conference, which was held in Denver in late April. The weather was brisk, but we enjoyed the conference and visiting a new city. We look forward to seeing many of you at our fall programs. Anita DiGiulio, President, NJ Chapter

THANK YOU DANIELLE ROTH At the February meeting, President Anita DiGiulio presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Danielle Roth, who served as President for the 2012 and 2013 years. See photo below. Danielle also served on the Communications committee, spearheaded our presence on LinkedIn, implemented our first named scholarship at the Spencer Educational Foundation, and co-chaired Risk Management Day in 2013. Anita commented on Danielle’s multi-tasking skills: “She did all this while also managing a demanding job at Verizon, and dealing with newborn twins.” Danielle is continuing to serve NJ RIMS on the Board of Directors and is chairing the Communications committee. If you are interested in participating in this committee, please contact Danielle at [email protected].
