LIBYA: HUMANITARIAN FUNDING UPDATE (as of 15 July 2016) US$119.8 million still required as Libya response tackles new crisis
Total required funding: $165.6 million
The situation in Libya remains volatile. Fresh outbreaks of violence are placing a strain on existing funds as humanitarian responders work to assist those affected. Since early May, clashes in and around Sirte have forced an estimated 35,000 people to flee their homes towards Bani Waled, Abu Salim, Tarhuna, Misrata and 15 other locations. Humanitarian community has already provided non-food items (NFIs), hygiene kits, food and medical supplies to those displaced by the fighting. Across Libya, humanitarian programmes continue to provide urgent assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs) from previous waves of displacement, as well as refugees and migrants who remain among Libya's most vulnerable. Health assistance is still a priority as the situation gets worse by the day. Food assistance requires urgent funding with stocks set to run out by September unless new financing is provided.
