Future Raiders Boys Basketball League Grades (3rd-6th) FREE BASKETBALL WITH ‘On time’ REGISTRATION! (By Monday, October23rd)
Dear Future Raiders and Parents: Welcome to the Flushing Basketball Family! I am excited to continue building a Flushing Basketball Program that offers collaboration between our high school players/coaches and the ‘future Raiders’ in our community. In our “Future Raider” youth program, each player will receive his own Flushing Raider Team T-Shirt and engage in the following activities: Saturday skills and drills session (11/4) instructed by high school coaches and players, developmental games complete with scoreboards, officials, and coaches, etc. We take much pride in this program we are offering and hope your son will have a great basketball experience. The table below provides basic information regarding the schedule of our program. All Saturdays will be held at Flushing High School. Saturday, November 4th- FHS

Weekly Practices: Your
son will know which team he is placed on at the first session, November 4th! Beginning the week of November 6th, each team will practice once a week at their respective elementary gym. We will make every attempt to place each child with their respective school’s team. Your son’s coach will have your phone number to communicate any changes after the November 4th session.
Game Dates: November 11, 18; December 2, 9, 16 (All Saturday’s) After the skills & drills date on November 4th, the remaining five Saturdays will consist of developmental games only. Starting Saturday, Nov. 11th, we will officiate a 40-minute game (two 20-minute halves). Third and Fourth graders will play at either 8:30am or 9:30am and fifth and sixth graders playing 10:30am or 11:30am. Games are approximately 1 hour long. Schedules will be set beforehand and you can expect them on Nov 4th.
Coaches: We will be having ADULT coaches.
We will need at least 12 adult volunteer coaches to effectively run the league. I invite any parents who are interested in coaching a team to contact Future Raider coordinators Eric Smith 5913854 or Adam Smith 591-3867 OR simply check the line on the student’s registration form that asks for ‘interested coaches’ and be sure to leave a phone number. We would like each coach to commit to one hour of practice per week starting the week of Nov. 6th along with coaching the Saturday morning games. It is important we find quality coaches early so we can contact players, set up gym schedules, and arrange for any questions. Coaches will receive a shirt. We’ll get sizes at Nov. 4th date.
Cost and Payment: The cost of the program is $75.
This will include a future raider team t-shirt along with a basketball (only if registered by Oct 23rd). Fill out the t-shirt size for your child on the attached registration form. Please complete this registration form making checks payable to ‘Flushing Athletics.’ You may send your registration form and check/cash in the mail to Flushing High School Athletic Office OR hand deliver the information to the High School (attn: Adam Smith). Please return the registration form and money by October 23rd so shirts can be ordered for the beginning of the program. Also, there will be a $10 late fee for registration AFTER October 23rd, 2017. Similar to last year, there will be Raider Gear available for purchase. Flyers will be available November 4th with the hopes of a 1-week turnaround. * $1 admission for adult spectators at Saturday games- 100% proceeds go towards the high school basketball program *
