Participants will explore ways to use digital tools for Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition. The visual and kinesthetic tools will make learning accessible to students with limited English ability.

We can animate concepts from math, science, social studies, language arts, and more. We can show phases of the moon, seasons of Ancient Egypt, conversion of numbers, and more. We will address the ISTE Student Standard of Creative Communication. Teachers will explore ideas for technology Substitution up to Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition. The visual nature of the creation tools and animation should meet the needs of students with limited English ability.

Measurement and Geometry in the Virtual World

IH Training Trailer #45 June 21st SRN: 20161800110203 Participants will use free, approved software Google Earth and Google Sketchup to make connections between measurement, geometry, past and present. We will look at monuments such as the Washington Monument on Google Earth, then try to re-

create them in Sketchup. We will zoom in and out of Google Earth and choose the best units of measurement for various distances. This course addresses the ISTE standard 3C Knowledge Constructor, using digital tools for creation and making connections. We will explore the highest level of the SAMR model, which is Redefinition. The visual nature of the tools allows ELs to learn content with limited English vocabulary.

Instead of providing packets for them to work on, continue to give them instruction and feedback during a structured lesson. In this session, you will learn how to create a “flipped” sub plan that allows you to give direct instruction and provide formative and summative assessments. This session is appropriate for anyone who is interested in beginning a flipped classroom model and can be used by teachers in one-to-one classrooms or teachers who have only an LCD projector. Teachers will be able to create a "flipped" sub plan in the coming year that helps their students continue learning despite a teacher absence.

With 3D printing, the future is here! Learn how to use Tinkercad with your upper elementary students to create computerized 3D designs that can be printed the traditional way on paper, or on your school's 3D printer. By the end of this course, teachers will be able to create an assignment and rubric that requires students to design a 3D model and be able to create a sample student project using Tinkercad. They will also understand how to set up accounts for their students. This course will be helpful for schools participating in next year's 3D challenge (for 4th and 5th grade).
