of energy, or both to replace natural mineral resources (material recycling) and fossil fuels such as coal and petroleum (energy recovery) in industrial processes, mainly in energy intensive

industries (EII) such as cement is called coprocessing. •The co-processing of wastes in cement kiln, in addition to the safe disposal of wastes, also decreases the environmental impacts of wastes, reduces greenhouse gas emissions; curtails waste handling costs, and conserves natural resources.

MECHANISM OF WASTE DISPOSAL IN CEMENT KILN •The organic constituents are completely destroyed due to

high temperatures, long residence time and oxidizing conditions in the cement kiln. •Acid gases such as HCL and SO2 are absorbed and neutralized by the freshly formed lime and other alkaline materials within the kiln. •The inorganic constituents reacts with the raw materials while heavy metal becomes immobilized in clinker matrix •Concrete made from cement manufactured using alternative fuels and raw

materials has the same construction and environmental properties as concrete made from cement manufactured using fossil fuels and traditional raw materials .
