Haslemere Competition Winners!

Retirement

On 30th June we celebrated 20 years of Coomers in Haslemere with cakes, refreshments and a competition at our Haslemere branch.

Mike Vaughan Key Account Manager Oakhanger

Congratulations to our lucky competition winners - Neil Mansey, Allen Blackaby and Steve Parry - who won a 138 piece socket set, a digital camera, and £50 worth of high street vouchers respectively! It was a good day and the prize draw was very popular, with over 70 customers entering. Thanks to all who came along and supported us!

Mike retired from our Oakhanger branch in August after just over 3 years behind the sales counter, and over 50 years in the builders’ merchant industry! Mike integrated into our team very successfully and passed on his vast knowledge and experience to all of his colleagues. He will be greatly missed and we all wish him and his family well in his retirement.

Congratulations Grev Coomer Managing Director Huge congratulations to Grev - our MD on 25 years service! After leaving university, Grev joined the family business at Oakhanger in August 1992 and soon took over the running of the company. 25 years on - thanks to Grev's hard work and business acumen Coomers is still an independent family business, but has grown from one to three branches and now employs over 70 staff!

Blacknest Golf Club section members, families and friends joined together for their Club Charity Day on 3rd June. The weather was ideal as 18 teams of 4 participated in an Alliance Stableford with an additional yellow ball competition. There were also individual nearest the pin, nearest the line and most birdies competitions. We were one of 29 local companies, plus members, who sponsored the day. This, along with donations for a silent auction and raffle, enabled a splendid total of £3,285 to be raised. An excellent result which will be split between three charities - Surrey Young Carers, Oracle Cancer Trust and the On Course Foundation. The winning team was Lesley Barton, Matt Evans, Tim Winkworth, and Paul Blackwell, who won a 4-ball at Old Thorns plus a bottle of wine and golf balls. The digital watch, donated by us, was won by Matt Franklin for scoring the most (3) birdies by a gentleman!

Haslemere Hockey Club Haslemere Hockey Club are very grateful for our continued support, providing sponsorship for another year in 2017. This photo shows the Ladies 1st XI team, who finished the 2016/2017 season 2nd in the Hampshire Division 1 Women’s league, bringing the battle for 1st place and league promotion right down to the final game of the season. They showed real determination and strength within their league and have many positives to take forward into next season. The Club remains very focused around its role as a Community Club, bringing a wealth of sport, fun and healthy exercise to the varied age group (5-75 years) of members across the Haslemere area, supporting 8 Men’s teams, 4 Ladies teams and strong Junior Hockey division for U6s through to U16s. This year the Club celebrated its 70th anniversary of successful hockey and membership with a formal evening of festivities.

If you’re interested in playing hockey at any level, Haslemere Hockey would love to welcome you onboard. Their "Mum’s Back to Hockey" evening sessions are particularly popular. The facilities are second to none with two pitches, indoor hockey facilities and modern pavilion - all on the one site!

Beacon Hill School Summer Fayre Our Bordon branch was pleased to donate 2 lengths of 6ft white guttering plus the brackets and ends to Beacon Hill Primary School for a Boat Race stall at their Summer Fayre on 17 June. The object of the game was to squirt the boats with water guns in a race to the finish line!

Vision Landscapes So thus ends another job. We have another happy customer. Here is an extended raised patio using reclaimed Somerset stone, cedar wood for the low picket fence and Indian sandstone 'Golden Fossil' paving supplied by Coomers in Haslemere.

The school had perfect summer weather for the Fayre. We think the stall looked like a lot of fun, the kids loved it and we understand it was one of the busiest at the event!
