EXECUTIVE SUMMARY In this newsletter we present recorded defacement of domains belonging to Montessori, Senior High and Universities in Ghana. These defacement are within a period of 17 years and we have gathered the data here for easy consumption. This data and many others is collected, managed and prepared by Tactical Intelligence Security. We have also added to this newsletter screenshots of some of the defaced sites. In the period of 17 years a total of 230 domains were defaced and possibly backdoored, 226 of them are unique. The attacks were conducted by 134 unique hackers and hacker groups. The sites run on 7 Unique OSes, ranging from Linux to Windows.

THE PROBLEM Security professionals fall short of implementing measures properly. We saw this happened in the Equifax breach that resulted in exposure of 56,200 drivers’ records. Such exposures cause leakage of sensitive information online. Also, in case of Poor Counter Intelligence, most businesses fail to put important measures on the same table. From our records we have realized that Ghana’s Cyber presence is used as a playground for initiating members of hacking groups and also used to gain reputation points.
