GI Energy launch Managed services

Ongoing maintenance, remote monitoring and intelligent control Pioneering sustainable energy company GI Energy is extending its offering by launching GI Managed Services to help customers ensure that they get the best out of their carbon-friendly heating and cooling systems. As the market leader in Ground Source Energy Systems in the UK, GI Energy has amassed a wealth of experience in optimising the performance of its heating and cooling systems: it is expert in remote monitoring and intelligent control. As such, it is also responsible for the long-term performance reporting, remote monitoring and ongoing maintenance of systems for many of its blue chip clients including Land Securities, Sainsbury’s and Oxford University Estates. The launch of GI Managed Services follows a substantial investment that will provide a platform for further expansion and sustainable growth. The new division will offer whole-life maintenance, commissioning, troubleshooting and optimisation, including system analysis, control, remote monitoring and performance reporting, not only for Ground Source Energy Systems but for a number of other renewable energy technologies. These will include Combined Heat and Power (CHP), CHP combined with Ground Source Energy Systems, Air Source Heat Pumps, Solar Photovoltaic and Thermal, and Biomass, whether for systems installed by GI Energy or by other companies. Andrew Madeley, Head of GI Managed Services, said: “We can survey a property and come up with the best sustainable technology solution for your particular portfolio and give you honest advice about what you should do, and where. “We are not weighted towards one particular technology because we do it all. We can give advice on what carbon savings you can make and, once a system is installed and commissioned, we can monitor the results in real time. “Crucially, we not only have excellent remote monitoring systems, we have the right team sitting looking at them. As a team we understand the design of renewable heating and cooling systems and what needs to be done to optimise performance. “GI Managed Services’ engineers are very skilled at using the data to draw conclusions and take actions that will reduce a customer’s energy bill and carbon footprint.” GI Managed Services will offer a range of ongoing maintenance packages right up to a fully comprehensive long-term service agreement that includes general plant maintenance, pro-active monitoring and remote interrogation with 24 hour a day, 365 days a year on-call back up from a team of skilled engineers. If a customer wants to enhance their existing renewable heating and cooling system, GI Managed Services can offer a turnkey solution. The development comes shortly after GI Energy expanded the range of renewable technologies it would install to include Combined Heat and Power; Air Source Heat Pumps, Demand Reduction, Power Conditioning, Solar Photovoltaic and Thermal and Biomass in addition to Ground Source Energy Systems. GI Energy was the company that pioneered the use of Ground Source Energy Systems in the UK. Since its inception in 2000, the company has completed 250MW of installations in the UK in schools, hospitals, universities, police headquarters, supermarkets and commercial buildings.
