It feels like it wasn’t that long ago that we were getting ready for the 2015 festive issue! They do say “time flies when you’re having fun”! Looking back on the past 12 months does always help to put into perspective why we might feel in need of a holiday or some time out! In particular for Go Vita it has been an incredibly fast-paced year that has seen the business relocate after 12 years and settle into new premises at Wetherill Park; from here we service our 150 health shops around Australia. This year also saw Go Vita recognised at industry level as Distributor of the Year 2016, an award that we are extremely proud of. As the year advances and the festive season is upon us, do take time out to read Paul Keogh’s article (page 2-3) that will help give you ways to deal with the busy time ahead. We also have some great tips for shaping up for Summer, and our Festive Gifts and Treats guide is filled with great gifts from Go Vita and of course I know you will love our yummy recipes too. Enjoy the read, start writing that Christmas list and planning the menu; preplanning will always ensure a better outcome! With all our best wishes for a happy, healthy and calm holiday season.

Herbs to help you have a a stress-free oes the very thought of the impending holiday season fill you with dread? If so, Paul Keogh suggests you take steps now to help prepare yourself mentally and physically for the intense time ahead.

D

The festive season is meant to be a time of joy and celebration, but for many of us, it’s actually quite stressful. The causes of silly season stress can take many different forms, including the emotional intensity of family dynamics, the demands of meeting work deadlines before the end-of-year holidays kick in, and a general sense of having too many things to get done and insufficient time available to do them. Any of those situations alone could be stressful, but if you’ve got several of

them going on at once, it’s easy to see how the situation can quickly turn into an emotional pressure cooker, and leave you feeling overwhelmed and out of control.

to be done, and may even experience stress-induced digestive problems or mild palpitations.

Act now to improve your ability What does silly season stress look like? to handle stress later Stress affects all of us in different ways, and Many of the effects of stress are accumulative, your personal experience may be vastly building up as a result of being under pressure different to that of people around yyou. for a longg p period of time or from a wide ough variety of sources simultaneously. The common thread though is that stress has the effect of Buil Building up your mental and making you feel that yourr ph physical ability to handle inner resources are depleted sstress more effectively also and/or that you’re hyped ttakes time, so if you have a ttrack record of finding the up and consequently not functioning at your best. ffestive season tough to cope That means that during w with, there’s no time like the stressful times, you mightt pr present for taking action. Sacred basil feel tired (even exhausted!), ), Sacred basil helps relieve Sacre irritable, absentminded and symptoms forgetful, and generally wound und up up, stress sym agitated and a bit anxious. In Ayurvedic medicine, Sacred basil (also As a result, you may also find yourself known as Tulsi), has traditionally been used lying wide awake in bed at night thinking to help relieve stress and enhance the physical about all the issues that are going on or and mental ability to cope with stressful the impossibly long list of tasks that need situations.

HEAL LT TH REPORT

Extra steps you can take to support your stress-coping capacity ...

In a double-blind, randomised clinical study involving people who were experiencing stress, taking a specific Sacred basil extract called OciBest® for six weeks was shown to reduce symptoms such as exhaustion, forgetfulness, irritability and sleeping difficulties 1.6 times more effectively than taking a placebo supplement. Withania calms and energises Another Ayurvedic herb, withania (also known as ashwagandha), has been used in similar ways, and is traditionally regarded as a rejuvenating tonic (or Rasayana). Withania may be particularly beneficial if you typically react to stress by becoming wiped out with nervous exhaustion and/or agitated and restless, because it’s traditionally regarded as being simultaneously energising and calming. Studies suggest that when taken for at least a month, withania may help to relieve fatigue, sleeplessness, forgetfulness, poor concentration and irritability.

The various stressors of the silly season can be exacerbated if you’re not taking good care of yourself, so here are our top tips for doing just that over the holidays: Prioritise a good night’s sleep: With so much socialising on the agenda and a super-long to do list, it can be tempting to burn the candle at both ends at this time of year. However, skimping on sleep almost always comes back to bite you later, reducing your energy levels and ability to adapt to stress, and making it difficult to concentrate.

Magnolia relieves stressinduced digestive difficulties The bark of the magnolia tree has a long history of use as a relaxing remedy in traditional Chinese medicine, and is considered particularly beneficial when stress impacts the digestive system, causing symptoms such as nervous dyspepsia, indigestion and reflux. Its actions are largely attributed to a compound called honokiol, which has demonstrated antianxiety properties and an ability to lower elevated levels of stress hormones in preclinical research studies. Polygala quietens the mind and Heart The traditional Chinese herb polygala has traditionally been used to quieten and calm the mind and Heart, and to help relieve symptoms that are often associated with stress, including mild anxiety, restlessness, absentmindedness, forgetfulness, insomnia and dream-disturbed sleep, and mild palpitations. It is also traditionally believed to enhance concentration, understanding and memory. Paul Keogh, co-founder of Fusion Health, is a qualified naturopath and medical herbalist with 28 years combined experience in clinical practice and the development of integrated Chinese and western herbal medicines.

Choose light, healthy meals: Christmas and the festive season are the perfect excuse to treat yourself to foods you’d normally only consume occasionally or in small quantities. While that’s not a problem once in a while, over-indulging consistently between now and the New Year may leave you feeling sluggish and tired. Furthermore, a fatty or stodgy diet won’t contain as many vitamins and minerals as one based on fresh fruit and veggies, and in times of stress, your nervous system has increased requirements for key nutrients. TIP: If you know your diet’s not likely to be the best over the Christmas season, take a multivitamin supplement, ideally an advanced formula that’s specially formulated to support your nervous system during times of stress.

Avoid alcohol: If you’re feeling stressed, it’s best to enjoy

alcohol in small or moderate quantities, if at all. Aside from adding to the load on your liver, drinking interferes with your sleep patterns (so may make you even more tired than you already are) and inhibits your will power (which may make it even more difficult than usual to stick to your nutritious diet or refrain from losing your temper when under pressure).

Exercise often: Aside from its benefits for physical wellbeing, exercise helps to clear your head, reduce anxiety, and enhance your ability to get a good night’s sleep. Aim for at least half an hour of moderate activity on most days of the week, and for additional stressbusting benefits, enjoy exercising outdoors in an inspiring natural location like the beach or your local park. Dealing with

dementia D

ementia is affecting Australians at an alarming rate. Naturopath Caroline Robertson explores ways to prevent and pause its onset.

Dementia isn’t a disease, but an umbrella term for a variety of symptoms associated with 100 different diseases or conditions, with Alzheimer’s the most common. It’s Australia’s most common disability and the second leading cause of death. Over 350,000 Australians have dementia including more than 50 per cent of people in aged care. Initially there’s loss of memory, intellect, reasoning, orientation, social skills and physical function, learning difficulties and short attention span. It affects the brain’s frontal lobe so people can become uninhibited, silent, paranoid, aggressive and incapable of simple activities such as walking and using the toilet. Dementia deaths often occur because sufferers can’t swallow,, stop eating and get infections like pneumonia.

Snif f ing n r osemar y caly signif icantmor y impr ove me

Dementia is caused by damage to brain cells, which stops them from communicating effectively with each other. Gradually brain cells die, with destruction particularly affecting parts of the brain governing memory, cognition and personality. Symptoms often arise years before a formal dementia diagnosis, which is made by blood tests, mental evaluations and brain scans. Brain plaques don’t always cause dementia.

Food for thought Deficiencies and dehydration are linked to dementia. Protect brain cells with antioxidant berries, kale, Brussel sprouts, spinach, spirulina, green tea and moderate red wine. Omega-3 fatty acids protect against inflammation and degeneration. The Mediterranean diet reduces Alzheimer’s risk by 28 per cent. It includes fruits, vegetables, fish, nuts and legumes with reduced meat, dairy and sweets. Avoid folate deficiencies with leafy green vegies and add coconut with its medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) for brain fuelling ketones. Eat eggs daily for choline and cholesterol. Give your brain an extra boost with brain cell supplements B complex, DHA, coenzyme Q10, folate, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, zinc, alpha lipoic acid and magnesium.

Memory mixes Studies show the positive effect of ashwagandha, brahmi, ginkgo, saffron, grape seed extract, panax ginseng, turmeric and lemon balm. Brahmi increases cerebral circulation, memory and brain repair. Panax ginseng reduces beta amyloid formation while reducing brain cell death and anxiety. Ashwagandha is regenerative and mimics Alzheimer’s drug donepezil. Green tea, grape seed extract and turmeric contain antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents that bind to heavy metals and reduce beta amyloid. Shape up for summer

tart now with these top tips for a toned body, more energy and better health this summer!

S

Start with a cleanse Banishing body baggage and blockages is the first step to attaining your ideal weight. Out with trapped toxins, in with new nutrients for a healthier you! Commit to a pure diet for the length of the cleanse – no alcohol, sugar, refined grains, cow’s milk, yellow cheese, ice cream, vegetable oil, fatty meats or deep fried foods. Favour egg white omelettes with green vegetables, filling superfood spirulina smoothies, omega-3 rich fish, seeds, and fruit and vegetables. Large, late dinners simply store fat. Instead have a lush lunch, an afternoon vegetable carrot, celery, ginger juice and an evening soup. To pacify hunger keep healthy food on hand, munching on vegetable sticks with wholesome dip. Expel fat and toxins with time-tested liver herbs milk thistle and globe artichoke. Make exercise a daily commitment “Make exercise an everyday automatic routine like brushing your teeth”, advises Gwyneth Paltrow. Get slim, supple and strong with fun fitness. Remove

distractions and excuses so you can set your weekly exercise schedule and stick to it! Ensure there’s a good mix of 30 minutes daily cardio, stretching and strengthening. Sweat with a smile while you power walk through nature, mini tramp, zumba, yoga, cycle or swim. Make movement part of your day by walking to work, taking stairs and getting into housework with gusto. Boost your energy When we’re tired or emotionally empty we often eat for energy. However, if we suffer acidity, malabsorption, candida or a poor diet, food only feeds fatigue. Fix digestive disorders with a nutritious, low allergy diet and digestive aids such as probiotics and digestive enzymes. Increase energy to increase metabolism, burn fat, preserve muscle mass, regulate blood sugar and decrease hunger. Supplements supplying power include alpha lipoic acid and coenzyme Q10 which are antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and metabolise food into energy. Chromium, vitamin B complex and Gymnema sylvestre lower blood sugar and cravings to ensure less fat storage. Bump up your greens for alkalinity Acid is the major cause of poor health, obesity and disease. Becoming more

alkaline and removing acid from the body can see positive changes in a matter of days, including increased vitality, more energy, a clearer mind and improved skin health. We could all do with some of that! So instead of counting calories, monitor your acidity and alkalinity to ensure your body is always in ‘fat burning’ mode (rather than ‘fat storing’ mode). To boost alkalinity, reduce or avoid alcohol, simple carbohydrates like bread, pasta and potatoes; meat including chicken; coffee and tea; processed or fast food; sugar and soft drink. Instead, consume high quality healthy fats, lots of green vegetables and water, exercise consistently and take the right supplements.

ducating yourself by seeking advice on overall wellbeing and how to treat specific conditions is a crucial part of taking charge of your health. But expert advice and quality products are key to both maximising your health and minimising wasted dollars!

While it’s tempting to self-diagnose and buy the cheapest supplements you can find, you’re more likely to misdiagnose (even if only slightly), buy supplements you don’t need, or end up with ineffective products, which are either made synthetically and hard for your body to process, or from lower grade ingredients. None of this is going to lead you to optimal health on your wellness journey. By seeing a qualified health practitioner, like a Go Vita health consultant, you’ll not only receive expert advice, but you’ll also have access to premium practitioner-only products you can’t buy over the counter. The power of the N arelle Muller looks at the evidence surrounding the health benefits of evening primrose oil and why its supporters are ever growing around the globe.

Evening primrose oil (EPO) is no newcomer to the natural health scene. It has, however, been heavily scrutinised in recent decades regarding its health claims. Yet, for every naysayer you will find a band of devoted followers who swear by this plant-based oil’s curative qualities particularly in the areas of hormones, skin and beauty. One undeniable fact is that EPO is high in essential fatty acids which provide

the foundation for cell membranes, the function of various hormones and other substances which affect the body. Essential fatty acids are vital for human health and the body can’t make them. They must be acquired through food. We require a balance of essential fatty acids, such as omega-6, found in evening primrose oil and omega-3, found in fish oils, for optimal living. Both are vital for brain function, growth and development. Containing large amounts of gamma linolenic acid (GLA), EPO comes from a wildflower native to America. Native Americans ate the seeds from the Oenothera biennis plant from which EPO is produced. They used the plant for poultices to heal bruising, wounds, haemorrhoids and skin problems. The legions of EPO consumers attest to its effectiveness for:

primrose Dry skin conditions More than 30 human studies report the benefits of EPO for atopic eczema. Atopic eczema sufferers appear to be unable to process fatty acids normally, which results in GLA deficiency. Atopic eczema tends to run in families where other atopic disorders exist such as asthma, diabetes or hay fever. GLA can assist with reducing inflammation and promoting cell growth; it helps relieve the itch and soothes the irritation of dry skin conditions. Capsules can be taken orally or pierced and the oil applied to the ‘good’ skin around eczema patches. For relief of eczema, EPO takes at least 6-8 weeks to take effect. Hormone health, PMS relief and beautiful skin It’s believed the essential fatty acids in EPO help women experiencing symptoms

associated with hormonal imbalance, PMS and menopause. One of the knock-on effects of hormonal imbalance can be teenage and adult acne. The omega-6 fatty acids in EPO are thought to regulate hormone levels helping to treat hormonal acne. The fatty acids play a role in cell structure, improving nerve function and promoting skin elasticity, which is why EPO is often used in beauty products. It can be applied topically or taken in capsule form to help moisturise, revitalise and nourish the skin from the inside and out. While limited in research, EPO is often touted as beneficial to reduce menopausal hot flushes, a small 2013 study found EPO improved the severity of menopausal hot flushes after six weeks of treatment. A number of clinical trials have assessed the

role of EPO in easing the breast tenderness and breast pain symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). In these trials EPO was noted in some patients to also improve the symptoms of mood and bloating. Note: EPO is not recommended if taking blood thinning or blood pressure medications. Narelle Muller is a journalist and health writer of more than 20 years, as well as a qualified personal trainer.

Luke talks

t’s hard to imagine that celebrity health foodie, Luke Hines of My Kitchen Rules 2013 fame, who today radiates confidence and vitality, was once a shy, angst-ridden teenager who suffered the distress of acne. Here’s his story.

I

“When I hit puberty, I well and truly knew it, because I was one of those kids who really suffered from acne,” Luke Hines says with raw honesty. “But I didn’t just get it on my face, I got it on my chest and back and it was a little bit traumatic, as I think it can be for many people, because at that age we’re going through such a transitional phase in our life. It’s the time when we start to build confidence and friendship groups, we start introducing ourselves to sport and we also start looking at how we look in the mirror – a whole lot of things start happening for us.” As an under-confident teen, Luke says he wanted to do whatever he could to rid

his skin of acne, but all he could manage was to cover up the problem, rather than treat it properly. “The majority of things I tried weren’t good for my body and I didn’t have the education or the knowledge to know that at the time,” he says. It wasn’t until Luke, now aged 33, began using SkinB5 products this year that he finally managed to truly tame his skin. “Had I known of SkinB5 when I was growing up, it would have made a massive difference because I wouldn’t have been putting harmful toxins onto or into my skin,” he says. “Acne wasn’t just something that was with me during puberty; being someone who is active and does a lot of travelling, I found the combination of excessive sweating during training and being on and off flights regularly, caused my skin to become dehydrated and irritated.” As a brand ambassador for SkinB5, Luke is encouraging people to have a conversation about acne – and that’s not limited to teenagers, it’s something adults need to talk about too. “Talking about skin and skin care can be an awkward topic for younger guys but it shouldn’t be a taboo topic, the more

for their own health and happiness and give them the confidence to do what they want in life, and love it.” Given Luke’s food philosophy around clean living, exercise and eating nutrient-dense foods, avoiding gluten, dairy and refined sugar, it made sense for him to also approach his skincare regime naturally. “For me to look after my skin, it didn’t feel right to be taking something or putting something on my skin that had toxic harmful chemicals in it,” he says. Luke uses SkinB5’s tablets, to keep acne under control from the inside out and help calm the overactive oill production in the skin. “They’re doing the rightt thing from the inside, but what you put on yourr skin has a massive effect also,” he says, explainingg he complements the tablets with the SkinB5 5 cleansing mousse and moisturiser. Luke says since his time on My Kitchen Rules and now a published cookbook author, he does attract lucrative opportunities, but always makes sure he selects ambassador roles and brand alignments which ring true to who he is. Which is why the SkinB5 partnership works so well, “and it’s Australianowned and that’s a bonus! These days we need to start focusing on where things come from and doing the right thing by our country.”

Latest breakthrough treatment for arthritis ewly available veganfriendly, biofermented glucosamine, is being heralded as the latest treatment for arthritis.

N

Arthritis is a debilitating condition affecting the musculoskeletal system. Common symptoms include severe joint pain and stiffness, inflammation and damage to joint cartilage. It restricts daily tasks such as walking, driving and preparing food. To date many people have enjoyed the benefits of glucosamine to give relief from the pain of arthritis. However traditional glucosamine supplements are not suitable to everyone, including vegetarians, vegans and those with shellfish intolerances or

24

allergic reactions to shellfish, dairy, nuts, gluten or eggs. Biofermented glucosamine sulfate is made by fermentation from a vegetarian source, hence is entirely suitable for those with allergies. “A daily dose of biofermented glucosamine has been shown to help relieve mild osteoarthritic pain and help reduce cartilage wear,” said Craig Fallshaw, CEO of the Complementary Medicines Group. “Look for biofermented glucosamine that does not use genetically modified bacteria in its bacterial fermentation process,” he said. Victor Tuballa, aged 42, from Penrith in Western Sydney has been using biofermentaed glucosamine supplements and hasn’t looked back. A keen runner, Victor has returned to the road after a long period of immobility. “I love

to run but I’ve had severe joint pain in my knees! Nothing seemed to work but I’ve been using this new biofermented supplement since the start of the year and there’s been a huge improvement. My knees are no longer in pain and I’m back running again, which is great.”

Arnica rescue! to the

Arnica is one of Europe’s most popular herbal remedies for sprains, strains, swelling, bruising and arthritic joints. Now Australians are discovering the amazing healing properties of this bright yellow daisy-like flower. A German study identified arnica’s (Arnica montana) active ingredients as sesquiterpene lactones. These substances influence many inflammatory pathways in the body, which might explain why arnica reduces swelling time in injuries, and also reduces bruising quickly. Arnica also stimulates circulation and the immune functions of the mucous membranes. How to use arnica Topical use of arnica is recommended, particularly for treating sore muscles, bruising and swelling. However, do not apply it to broken skin. Topical creams will either contain an homoeopathic tincture

of arnica (for example Arnica montana 1X) or traditionally prepared herbal tincture (containing both flower and root extracts) and oil extract of arnica. The traditionally prepared tincture increases the extraction of oil, water and alcohol soluble active ingredients and therefore broadens the efficacy of the final cream. Gently massage a small amount into the affected area, three to four times daily in the acute stage and twice daily as the symptoms subside. Arnica should not be taken internally except as highly diluted homoeopathic formulations, such as tiny tablets (pilules) or as a spray.

Popular uses

• Minimise br uising, swelling, shoc k and pain • Improve reco very time after injury • Reduce sw elling, stiffness and pain of infl amed joints • Minimise th e effects of tissue damage • Reduce mus cle strains, sprains and ac hes

The power of digestive enzymes

Improving your digestion While it is clear that supplemental digestive enzymes can help a sluggish digestive system, you also need to ensure you’re helping your body to promote its own digestive enzymes too! Here are some tips to help stimulate your own enzyme production and hydrochloric acid secretion: • take a vitamin B complex – this vitamin group is important for the production of digestive enzymes • consume bitter foods (such as rocket and endives) to help activate the digestive process • consume as much raw, organic foods as possible • half a lemon squeezed into half a glass of water may also stimulate digestive juices.

26

ISSUE 44 • 2016

I

f you suffer from indigestion, constipation, bloating, heartburn or flatulence, you might need to top up your digestive enzyme levels.

Th familiar adage ‘you are what The yyou eat’ is in fact flawed and a more accurate statement is ‘you are what you assimilate’. Even the healthiest diet is completely useless if you can’t properly digest and assimilate the nutrients it contains. T That’s where enzymes come in. The These biological catalysts help trigger every chemical change in your body inc including the break down of protein, ccarbohydrates and fats. Digestive enzymes Enzymatic activity begins in your mouth where certain digestive enzymes produced by you initiate st starch and fat digestion. In the stom stomach hydrochloric acid activates more enzymes to commence the break do down of protein and fat. In the small iintestine, the majority of digestion and absorption of nutrients into the bloodstream takes place. Digestive enzymes produced in your body include protease, amylase, lipase, pepsin, ptyalin aand trypsin. Interestingly your bod body does not produce the enzyme

called cellulase, the enzyme that breaks down cellulose. Without proper enzyme production it is more difficult for your body to digest food, this can lead to a number of digestive disorders. Raw foods In addition to the enzymes your body produces, digestive enzymes are also naturally present in all raw foods; these include protease, amylase, lipase and cellulase, which aid the breakdown of protein, carbohydrates, fat and fibre respectively. Unfortunately, cooking (heating at 47 degrees Celsius for longer than 15 minutes) destroys all the natural enzymes in raw foods forcing the enzymes made in your body to do all the work. There is also evidence that today’s fresh raw foods may contain decreased enzymatic levels due to storage conditions, pesticide treatments and other toxins in the soil, water and air. Diminishing enzyme supply If you eat cooked and processed foods, you are using up your natural supply of digestive enzymes. As you age,

LIVE WELL

digestion becomes more difficult for your body. Research proves that older people have lower quantities of natural digestive enzymes than younger people do; they also have a diminishing level of gastric acid. Supplemental enzymes A belief some years ago that stomach acidity destroys all supplemental enzymes has since been proved incorrect. Food remains in the upper region of the stomach for as long as an hour before the food is mixed with digestive acids. It is during this predigestion phase that supplemental enzymes have the greatest opportunity to do their work. If the enzyme supplement is taken just before eating it will have time to mix with the meal and help initiate the digestion process. Research suggests that oral supplementation with enzymes may allow the body to conserve its own digestive enzymes. There are plant (such as bromelains) and animal (such as pancreatin) derived enzymes as well as microbial or fungal

enzymes. In comparison to plant or animal sourced enzymes, microbial enzymes appear to possess unusually high stability and activity through a wide range of pH conditions, which may mean they are more robust and consistently active and functional for a longer distance along the digestive tract. Modern filtration technology allows for a clean pure product lness • Indigestion or ful with no microbial residue. s ho that lasts 2-4 ur The advantage of plant/fungal g after eatin derived enzymes over animalFlatulence • sourced enzymes is their ability • Bloating to effectively breakdown food s • Abdominal cramp in the upper stomach without s he and ac the enzymes themselves being g ing Belching and burp • destroyed by the gastric juices. • Nausea s • Food intolerance Note: s itie itiv ns se or Digestive enzyme supplements a Alternating diarrhoe • are not recommended for on ati tip and cons people suffering with gastric or duodenal ulcers.

a clean home can be bad for

your health T

here are many hidden dangers in everyday household cleaners, but safer alternatives do exist and they work! Go Vita health consultants provide their top tips to go green when you clean! If you’ve ever cleaned your bathroom and felt a mild burning sensation in your lungs, stinging eyes or the start of a headache, your cleaning products could be to blame. But it’s not just the short term effects on the body from household chemicals we need to think about but the long term ones too as health concerns such as cancers and allergies increase year on year. Children in particular are at risk from chemical effects as they have particularly sensitive immune systems. Indeed the unprecedented rise in childhood asthma is thought to be linked to chemicals found in the home. What to avoid Make sure your cleaning products are free from ammonia and phosphates,

caustics, chlorine, petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances and colourings. Also check if the product or its ingredients have been tested on animals, are readily biodegradable, are grey water safe and have no toxic by-products. What’s new? Recently launched Probiotic Solutions cleaning range ticks all the health and environment safe boxes. The probiotic cleaners build a bio-film of good bacteria warning off bad bacteria to keep your home naturally clean and healthy. Ready to use and certified organic, Probiotic Solutions combine world leading probiotic technology with nature’s own cleaning methods, making your house healthier and your family less susceptible to infection and disease.

Top ways to go green when you clean! 1. Keep the air clean. Keep your windows and doors open as much as possible to ventilate. Use green plants as natural air detoxifiers. 2. Switch to ‘green’ cleaning products. Probiotic Solutions range of probiotic cleaners use the power of good bacteria to clean and balance surfaces in a similar way probiotics clean and balance your gut. 3. Keep house dust to a minimum (as more dust means more toxins). Mop all surfaces at least once a week. Use Probiotic Solutions Mop Me. 4. Throw out your old cleaning products but not in the bin! If they’re too toxic for your home, then they are not going to be good for landfill either. Call council and see if they can tell you when the next toxic recycling day is.
