2015 Golden Valve Awards Competition Rules CATEGORIES NOTE: See CONTEST RULES section for details about permitted software. 1. Visually Complex – Based on visual complexity shown in one image, this category is open to any type of plant onshore, offshore, pharmaceutical, power generation, food & beverage, etc. Although the entire plant need not be shown, a view highlighting complexity is recommended. 2. Discipline-specific – This image spotlights your specific discipline, whether structural, HVAC, equipment, or electrical, using Intergraph® software as a professional tool. 3. Photo-realism (formerly Rendering and Ray Traces) – This category comprises 3D model images, which are highly detailed and attractive with photo-realistic quality, such as mirror-like reflections, smooth shading, and realistic skies and backgrounds. Photo matching is also in this category. 4. Animation – This category encompasses movies or multimedia presentations related to the process, power, or offshore industries. Fly-throughs and construction sequencing are some examples.

PRIZES In each of the first three categories, the prizes will be: 1st place – US$1,000, 2nd place – $500, 3rd place – $250. The Animation category will have one winner: 1st place – $1,000. All entries will be considered for the Judges’ Choice Awards at $1,000 each. Best of Show will receive $1,500 and complimentary registration for HxGN LIVE. All winners will also be featured in the 2016 Golden Valve Calendar and will receive a limited quantity of calendars. All monetary prizes are in U.S. currency. If your company does not allow monetary awards, we will make a donation to the charity of your choice. All winners will be featured at HxGN LIVE and in Insight magazine.

CONTEST RULES 1. You must follow the rules on how to enter. Violation of these rules will result in disqualification. 2. Intergraph Process, Power & Marine software must be used to design the project behind the submitted image. SmartPlant® Review or Intergraph Smart™ 3D must be used to render the submitted image or animation. a. ACCEPTABLE: Artistic enhancements to the Smart 3D rendering are acceptable. For example: artistic manipulation, photo touchup, changing brightness, blurring, and smoothing in other software is acceptable. Acceptable use of non-Intergraph software includes artistic changes to the final entry. Raster-editing tools like Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Paint, Adobe Premier, etc. are acceptable. All non-Intergraph software must be listed. b. NOT ACCEPTABLE: Renderings created with non-Intergraph software will be disqualified. Creating a rendering from non-Intergraph software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, SoftImage, 3D Studio Max, NavisWorks, or LightWave is not acceptable. 3. Image or animation entries submitted in a previous year’s Golden Valve Award Computer Art Competition are not eligible to be entered into any category as a new entry. 4. Employees of Intergraph, Intergraph subsidiaries, partners or third parties, or companies wholly or partly owned by Intergraph are not eligible for the competition. 5. Each person can have no more than five (5) entries in any combination of image or animation categories. Each image or animation entry must be submitted with a separate Golden Valve Awards Entry Form and Golden Valve Awards Image Approval Release Form. 6. Each submission must contain the project name and location/country on the entry form to be considered eligible and validated for the contest. 7. All entries must be received at the Intergraph office in Madison, Alabama, USA, by close of business on March 17, 2015. Entries can be submitted throughout the year up until this date.

Discipline-specific, Visually Complex, and Photo-realism categories – Each entry should include an image that is at least 3,000-to-5,000 pixels wide or tall for print. Use the Snapshot command in SmartPlant Review to create a 3,000- to 5,000-pixel wide or tall image.



Animation category – All animations MUST be accompanied by a high-resolution .tif file image of a frame in the animation. This image cannot be the same image as one also entered in any still image category. Please provide an image 3,000 to 5,000 pixels or larger or the largest screen capture you can provide.

SUBMIT ENTRY 1. Complete the Golden Valve Awards Entry Form. 2. Complete the Golden Valve Awards Image Approval Release Form. 3. Submit your entry: a) If you would like to submit your entry electronically, go to: https://filetransfer.intergraph.com/ 1. Select Public Access button at the bottom of the screen

2. Choose Secure option 3. Fill out form with your contact information a. Input the following where noted in red: i. Recipient email send to: [email protected] ii. Subject: 2015 Golden Valve entry – type your company name iii. Notify when download occurs – select “Yes” iv. Upload Files, include your entries along with completed entry form and release form

4. Select files to upload, use middle arrow to add and start upload

6. You will receive a confirmation email of your submission b. JUDGING Entries will be judged with equal emphasis on: 1. Technical use of software and system capabilities 2. Innovative and imaginative use of software 3. Quality of the rendering itself, and techniques used: •

Aesthetics of the image or animation, including composition, layout, and use of color The contest judges and/or administrators reserve the right to disqualify entries if they have been inaccurately represented on the entry form, particularly with regard to software contest rules. The judges’ decisions are final. Winners will be notified by May 19, 2015. All awards will be presented at HxGN LIVE. Award recipients unable to attend should have a representative from their company appointed to receive awards. In a case where the award recipient or representative from his or her company is unable to receive the award, special arrangements will be made for shipment.
