IMPORTANT INFORMATION -CONDITIONS Travellers on Steamrail trains are bound by Steamrail’s standard conditions of travel. Acceptance of a ticket is deemed an acceptance of these regulations. While we endeavour to operate this tour as advertised it may be necessary to alter or cancel all or part of the tour due to circumstances beyond our control. On days declared to be of high fire danger and/or Total Fire Ban the train will be hauled by one of Steamrail’s heritage diesel locomotives. We cannot be liable for any cost incurred by you arising from any late running of this tour. Adults must take responsibility at all times for infants and other persons in their care. Please let us know if you have wheel chairs or special needs. -REFUNDSSteamrail will offer refunds if you are unable to travel due to illness or other serious cause, providing that tickets are returned, and you notify us 7 days prior to day of travel. A cancellation fee will be charged to cover our costs. -GROUP DISCOUNTS We offer group discounts for parties of 16 or more on most tours. If you have a group of 50 or more a special private carriage may be available, while for larger groups your own chartered Vintage Train may be an option. -SENIORSWe welcome holders of Seniors card. THE VINTAGE TRAIN
The Vintage Train has been fully restored by Steamrail as part of Victoria’s rail heritage and is fully authentic, not a re-creation. Our fleet of heritage steam locomotives date from 1889, while the carriages date from 1906. The train features beautiful timber paneling, walk through corridors, comfortable compartment style seating, licensed bar and buffet car, toilets and washrooms.

F R I D AY 31S T J U LY T O S U N D AY 2 N D A U G U S T Steamrail Victoria invite you to join us for this exciting event of overnight travel in beautifully restored sleeping carriages, as we travel to the goldfields town of Maldon. Our journey begins on Friday evening at Southern Cross station, picking up at Footscray and Sunshine stations before travelling on to Castlemaine. Enjoy falling asleep to the sounds of a steam engine working hard over the Great Dividing Range. Arrival into Castlemaine station will be in the early hours of the morning, where we will transfer on to the Victorian Goldfields Railways branch line. K190 will be eagerly waiting for us and will be added to the consist for a double header trip to Maldon. Listen out for the old clickety clack of a bygone era as we travel at a slower pace on to the beautiful town of Maldon. There will be stops in the early hours of the morning to take photos and listen to the delightful sounds of double-headed steam echoing through the forest. Upon arrival in Maldon we are greeted with an enjoyable country cooked breakfast. Here you have the choice to explore Maldon for the day with our Carmans Tunnel, winery and lunch option, or you may like to catch the train back to Castlemaine and join the V/Line train to Bendigo and explore the Goldfields town for the day and return to Castlemaine then Maldon, or remain in Maldon for the day, the choice is yours. There will be photo opportunities with mixed freight and passenger trains to bring out your inner gunzel. Lunch will be available in Maldon by wandering to the main street for a bite to eat in one of the many fantastic cafes or pubs this town has to offer.
SATURDAY EVENING DINNER TRAIN TO CASTLEMAINE OPTION: Enjoy a relaxing ride to Castlemaine station on Saturday evening. Sit back and enjoy the sound of the locomotive working hard through the forest as the sun goes down over the horizon. Take in a beverage or two before we reach our destination, then it’s just a short walk to our venue for a two course scrumptious meal. We depart again at 9.30pm for a leisurely journey back to Maldon, completing our evening dinner train ride. We once again settle into our sleeping compartments for the only night in Maldon. Sunday morning sees us departing Maldon early as our destination for breakfast is Muckleford. Enjoy a country cooked breakfast once again before we set off for Castlemaine for the final time this weekend. We remain in Castlemaine for a while, so the train can be transferred across to the main line for a speedy double headed steam ride back to Southern Cross station, finishing off an exciting weekend away. Price per head includes all train travel on the Saturday between Maldon and Castlemaine (except Saturday night dinner train). Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday are included in your fare. *Early bird fare: Book and pay before the 12th June and receive a $50 per person discount! •
