Goldwater Scholarship Instructions Components of the Application • Completed Application form-Register for the application at http://www.act.org/goldwater/apply/index.html • Three letters of recommendation: 1) If you have participated in research, you must have a letter from your mentor 2) Letters should come from faculty who teach in your major field of study • Essay: – typed in a 2-column format and confined to two pages (one side only). Font size may not be smaller than 12 characters per inch or 11 point. • Academic transcripts and schedules: To download a copy of your unofficial transcript and current schedule from Banner for the campus competition open your transcript in AskBanner: o For a Mac: save as a pdf file (Select print, select the pdf button on the bottom of the print box, select “save as a pdf” from the drop down box o For PC: save as a text file o Name the file as follows: your last name.first initial.trans.pdf or .txt (for example: doe.j.trans.pdf for a Mac user/ doe.j.trans.txt for a PC user) • If you have taken courses at colleges other than VC and the grades are not listed on your transcript you should request that these transcripts be sent to Box 122 • Confidentiality waiver (one per lifetime): This should be submitted BEFORE you request letters of recommendation. http://fellowships.vassar.edu/fellowships/other/index.html
