The Great Pumpkin Race and Fall Festival

Fall Festival and Pumpkin Race

Registration

The Fall Festival is the setting that surrounds the Great Pumpkin Race with live music, great food, carnival rides, face painting and games. There are fun activities for the whole family!

Pumpkin Race registration and check-In will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 12:45 p.m. outdoors. Note: All pumpkin racers must check in at the tent prior to 12:45 p.m.

The Great Pumpkin Race is the most exciting special event to hit the East Coast in years! It’s easy, it’s wacky, and pumpkins and racer kits all around the community are being transformed into pumpkin racers to compete in the annual MVF Great Pumpkin Race. There is still time to create your own racer and join in the fun at North Creek Community Center.

Pumpkin Garage

Parking Limited parking will be available at North Creek Community Center. Plan on parking at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or the MVF Office, with shuttle buses running between the sites frequently.

Pumpkin Treat Baking Contest Drop off and registration will take place on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. at North Creek Community Center. Winners will be chosen in each of two age categories: 15 years and younger and 16 years and older. Treats will be judged on appearance, texture, taste and quality. Judging will take place before noon. All entries must include pumpkin in the recipe and be a baked item. All entries will be displayed during the Great Pumpkin Race and Fall Festival.

Pumpkins and Mums for Sale Goshen Giant will be on site, selling pumpkins, mums and more.

Food Sales Ledo Pizza, sweets from Barley Field Orchard and other vendors will be selling festival food inside North Creek Community Center. All food sales are cash.

Ledo Pizza Pizza by the Slice Cheese Pepperoni

$3.00 $3.50

Soda Water

$1.00 $1.00

Sweet treats from Barley Field Orchard

Visit the MVF Pumpkin Race Garage at least one hour before the race to “tune up” your unique creation. There you will find the necessary tools and accessories to build or tune your winner. While it would be unfair for the MVF Pit Crew to build your racer for you, they will be on hand to give advice and answer questions. You will also find parents helping children, and friends helping friends to create something to be proud of and laugh about for a lifetime. Stock items (free or nominal charge) will be available at the garage.

How the Pumpkin Races Work

Pumpkin Races Pumpkin Races begin at 1 p.m. with a V.I.P. challenge race between several local dignitaries and elected officials. Participants in each category will be called to the Pumpkin Registration and Check-in area prior to their races to be organized for their racing heats. Races are single elimination. Winning pumpkins will be the first in each heat to have the skin of the pumpkin (not decoration or stem) cross the finish line. In a heat where no pumpkin crosses the finish line, the pumpkin that goes farthest on the track will be deemed the winner of the heat. As with any race, there is always a chance of one race vehicle, a.k.a. pumpkin, crashing into another and causing it to go off course. This is unfortunate, but part of the race. Once the pumpkin racer is let go at the ramp, it is in the race! Winners from each heat within a race category (children, youth, open, groups) will be sent to the Winners’ Circle. After all registered racers in the category have participated in a race, the winners of each heat will race against one another until a single winner emerges for each race category. The final race will include the overall winners of each race category. The winner of this race goes home with the trophy!

The most meaningful words to describe Holy Cross Germantown Hospital are:

Your very own. From Joy’s praise for her successful gynecologic surgery, to Glenn’s gratitude for his mother’s care during an orthopedic emergency, and Alexa’s peace of mind from delivering twins with a trusted team, it’s our patients’ very own words that best describe Holy Cross Germantown Hospital.

Marie and Glenn Alexa

Holy Cross has brought its expertise and technology to upper Montgomery County. And every room in our beautiful new hospital is private so you can surround yourself in a safe, comfortable environment that promotes healing. Visit HolyCrossHealth.org to read more stories, find a doctor and see why you’ll want to call Holy Cross Germantown Hospital...your very own.
