“POPS Goes to the Movies” February 4, 2017 Dear Parents, The POPS is an annual fundraising concert and a long standing tradition in Guilderland featuring performances by all of our high school music ensembles including the Choirs, Bands, Orchestra and Jazz Band. This event is the major fund raiser for the music booster organization, the Guilderland Music Parents and Friends Association. The Music Parents, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), use all funds raised from the Pops Concert to provide enrichment activities, assembly programs, guest clinicians, scholarships, and other resources for students of every age throughout the entire school district. For this concert, the High School New Gym is transformed with decorations and tables and chairs. Eighth grade musicians serve as waiters and waitresses serving light refreshments that are available for purchase. Students should arrive no later than 6:45 pm and dress for this concert is black pants and a brightly colored shirt (no T-shirts). This is an informal event so just come and have fun! Students should bring the following assigned foods (please don’t spend more than $5.00):
Concert Choir – cheese (women), crackers (men) Mixed Choir & Wind Ensemble – desserts (bite sized) Symphonic Band & Symphony Orchestra – fruit (cut and ready to serve) Tickets are $6 in advance (4 ticket family pack /$20) and $7 at the door with table seats available on a first come, first served basis. Tickets will be available in music ensembles and at the school store. (Performers do not need tickets.) We hope you bring your family and friends to this entertaining and relaxing evening.
