Tonight’s Game: The Gwinnett Stripers continue a six-game, two-city (3 at COL, 3 at TOL) road trip tonight with game two of a three-game series vs. the Toledo Mud Hens (Detroit Tigers).  In the South: The Stripers (15-24) are fourth in the IL South Division, trailing Durham (1st, 25-14) by 10.0 games, Norfolk (2nd, 20-18) by 5.5 games and Charlotte (3rd, 16-24) by 0.5 games.  All-Time vs. Toledo: Gwinnett is 51-27 (.654, their best winning percentage vs. any opponent) in 78 meetings with Toledo and has won all nine season series vs. the Mud Hens: 2009 (5-3), 2010 (6-2), 2011 (5-3), 2012 (7-1), 2013 (6-2), 2014 (5-3), 2015 (5-4), 2016 (5-4) and 2017 (7-4).

Last Game: The Stripers dropped the series-opener 11-6 to the Toledo Mud Hens last night at Fifth Third Field. Toledo scored six runs off LHP Jon Kennedy (L, 0-2) in the second inning and never trailed. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, ROAD TRIP (1-3) Harold Castro and Christin Stewart all tallied RBI singles, and Batting: Ronny Rodriguez added a two-run triple. Gwinnett cut the deficit .221 (31-for-140), 8 2B, 2 3B, to 6-2 with an RBI single by RF Xavier Avery (2-for-4, HR, R, 2 3 HR, 17 R, 16 RBI, 0 SB RBI) in the fourth and a run-scoring double play grounder from 3B Pitching: 4.24 ERA (16 ER in 34.0 IP), Austin Riley (1-for-5, RBI) in the fifth, but the Mud Hens scored 14 BB, 42 SO, 0 Holds, 0 Saves twice in the bottom of the fifth off LHP Chad Bell to push the lead to 8-2. Jason Krizan, Kody Eaves and Gabriel Quintana all doubled off Bell in the fifth. Avery blasted a solo homer off RHP Zac Reininger as part of the Stripers’ three-run eighth to make it 8-5, but RBI doubles by Jim Adduci and Saltalamacchia off LHP Phil Pfeifer and a run-scoring balk by LHP Rex Brothers made it 11-5 in the bottom of the eighth. RHP Kurt Spomer (W, 1-0) tossed 3.0 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win for Toledo.

Four for Bourjos: Peter Bourjos posted his second consecutive four-hit game last night, going 4for-4 with two doubles and his International League-leading fourth triple. Including his 4-for-5 effort on Thursday at Columbus, he is batting .889 (8-for-9, 3 2B, 3B, 3 R) in his last two games. In 14 total games with Gwinnett, Bourjos is batting .357 (20-for-56, 5 2B, 4 3B, 1 HR, 12 R, 6 RBI, 1.071 OPS).

2017 in Review: Playing in their final season under the “Braves” moniker, the Gwinnett Braves went 71-71 (.500) to finish tied for sixth in the 14-team International League. Gwinnett finished second in the IL South Division, 15.0 games behind first-place Durham (86-56), 5.0 games ahead of third-place Norfolk (66-76) and 10.0 games ahead of fourth-place Charlotte (61-81). Though Gwinnett won six more games than in 2016 (65-78), the club failed to repeat as IL South Division Champions.

Last Start: Allard shined in his best start in a Stripers uniform on 5/13 vs. Norfolk, matching his career high with 8.0 innings (2 H, 0 R, 1 HB, 1 BB, 8 SO) for his second consecutive win. He was backed with 10 runs of support, eight coming from Austin Riley (3 HR, 8 RBI) in Gwinnett’s 10-0 victory.
