From the General Manager Springtime in the Southwest. Soon the cacti will be blooming to remind us this season is a time of regrowth and renewal. The sun is plentiful and outdoor activities abound. The resort is swelling with events and activities in March. The Drama Club and the Chorus will hold performances this month. They serve as reminders for us to take time to laugh and sing, especially under Arizona skies. Have you thought about making Palm Creek your home? Our new Model Center is opening and our Sales staff would be happy to point out the greenbelt areas, walkways and new pool, in addition to touring you through the new homes. Why not stop by for a visit?

Kevin Flynn General Manager

Guest Services IT’S BEEN ANOTHER BUSY SEASON! We love all the hustle and bustle in the resort! With that said, it’s hard to start thinking about the end of the season. As you’re preparing to pack up for the season, here are some important things to keep in mind for our annual residents leaving for the summer: 

Make sure to prepare your residence for the summer. Put away all outdoor items – the winds here can pick up and blow heavy items away, leading to damage and danger to other people and property. You will find Palm Creek’s guide for preparing your home for the summer at the Concierge Desk.

Check out with Guest Services to let us know when you’re leaving so we can stop your sewer & trash charges and mark you offsite for the season. We will be sending out a Resident Information Card to ensure we have the correct contact information; please make sure to return it to Guest Services before you leave as we find we sometimes have to contact people during the summer.

Check out with the Mail Room so you can have your mail forwarded.

Christy Kochen Behrens Guest Services Manager

Guest Services Hours M-F 8:00am to 5:00pm S-S 10:00am to 4:00pm

For our seasonal guests, make sure to book for next season before you go. Each year we’re getting busier and busier and you’ll want to ensure a good site early. Plus, Sun has gone to a new price plan that could increase rates based on demand so booking early is critical! Don’t forget April is still a beautiful month in Arizona so perhaps you should extend your stay a bit longer? If so, we’re offering 20% off extensions. Call or drop by Guest Services for more information. For those of you who stay year round, we will look forward to seeing you often up at Guest Services! FLASH!

—Christy

Palm Creek will not offer storage next season. Stop by Guest Services for a list of nearby storage facilities.

Palm Creek Trash Days are Mondays and Thursdays. Please ensure your bags are placed outside by 8:30am. 4

Events and Activities HELLO FRIENDS! March is already upon us, so we all get to be just a “wee bit Irish” this month. What does this mean exactly? How about fun-loving, warmhearted, patriotic people with a great sense of humor? This should be easy – I see it every day at Palm Creek – with or without Irish heritage!

Marion Nelson Event Manager

We start the month with our annual Fashion Show on March 6th, where some of your friends and fellow residents will dazzle you with new styles and warm smiles. We will feature clothing from Fosters’ Fashions (currently under consignment in our own Golf and Gift Shop). Our ever-popular Movies in the Park are back with warm evening temperatures, so be sure to mark your calendar for the 6th,13th and 20th. Bring your own comfy chairs and we’ll take care of the rest -- just like the ol’ days when you went to the drive-in movie. On the 6th we will be showing La La Land; on the 13th it will be The Founder and on the 20th we’ll be showing Going in Style. Our last dance of the season happens to be St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, with Thaddeus Rose. Be sure to buy your tickets and wear green for this fun, festive evening! Then, calling all parrotheads for our end of season party on Friday, March 23rd! Don’t miss this Jimmy Buffet tribute band with a Margaritaville theme party. Wear your island clothing and get in the spirit with us! The remaining important details can be found on page 10, but you can be sure it will be 5 o’clock somewhere! For those lucky enough to have grandkids visiting for Easter, we will have an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31st, to prevent any conflicts with church services. Please see details on page 15 and be sure to sign up in the Activities Office so we can plan accordingly. I hope your whole month is filled with four leaf clovers, dancing leprechauns and big pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. —Marion

Events and Activities MARCH ALREADY! Here it is March already and our season is still going strong. This has been a very busy but exciting year for us, with all of the construction going on. But here we are with a new expanded ballroom, looking to a great month of fun entertainment coming our way! We are hosting a bus trip to spring training on March 17th at the Peoria Sports Complex. It will be the Seattle Mariners playing the Anaheim Angels with game time at 1:10pm. Why not join us? Cost is $60.00 per person. We have limited seating so get your

tickets as early as possible. We have two dances this month. On March 3rd we have the Newtones (formally the Realtones), playing 50’s 60’s and 70’s music. Then on March 10th we have our ever popular Kool Band. Our last dance featuring this band was sold out, so make sure you get your tickets for these last two dances while we have space available. In March we are offering two major shows: March 7th with Tennessee River, which is a tribute to Alabama, and March 18th we are presenting a tribute to Huey Lewis and the News with SuperHuey Band. Both of these should be great shows! There will be two NPA shows this month. On the 11th is Keyboard and Komedy and on the 25th we will have our last show of the season—New Odyssey. All shows are in the ballroom and start at 7:00pm. Our final Craft Fair this season will be Tuesday, March 13th, from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Don’t miss out on all of the great products our vendors will be bringing to you one last time. New Image Fashions will be here on the 20th. Stop by to see the summer fashions. You can buy some cute clothes to take back home with you. In the meantime, I have already started planning some new and fun activities for the summer and our next season. We hope to start selling tickets for next season in July so be sure to check our Facebook page this summer for the announcement of ticket sales. If you have any suggestions for bands, shows, or trips, please come to the activities office and let us know your ideas. I am always open to try something new. See you at the activities! —Mary Ann 7

The hot air balloons have literally become our “trademark” for this fundraiser and add a special element to the weekend. All pilots graciously traveled at their own expense and raised $1,720 toward our cause. A heartfelt thank you also goes to all the volunteers, clubs, businesses, and employees who contributed to our Cancer Awareness Weekend! Mail Room RESIDENTS The Palm Creek Mail Room acts as a secondary postal drop-off and pick-up facility for the convenience of resort residents and guests. Each day we pick up and drop off mail to the US Post Office. Please know that we handle your mail as quickly as possible. We recently received some complaints about the packages (and pink cards) not arriving on Mondays until late in the day. Please understand this is beyond our control as the US Post Office specifies the time we are able to pick up the mail. Once we receive and process the mail, it’s nearly 4:00pm. Pink Package Cards are then put into the boxes around 8:00am the next morning. This is as quick as we can notify you of your package. We are hoping this timeframe doesn’t last much longer; it is very frustrating for us too. We need your help with a parking issue. We have had some problems with cars or golf carts blocking our golf cart charging station near Lawn Bowling. Please do not park personal cars or golf carts by the charging stations. We need the station to be clear so we can plug our mail carts into them to be charged for the next day. Some of our residents will be heading home shortly for the summer. Please be sure to stop by the Mail Room with your mailing labels so that we may forward mail to you. And if you are a renter, please return your mailbox key before leaving Palm Creek. May You Have Love that Never Ends, Lots of Money and Lots of Friends, May Health be Yours in Whatever You Do and Life’s many Blessings onto You. Happy St. Patrick Day! —Donna

Club News Dog Agility Time for something new? Can you teach an old dog new tricks? Have you heard “you can't teach an old dog new tricks?” Well it's not true! You don't have to start training when your dog is a puppy, you can begin agility training at any age. Whether your dog is a puppy or in their senior years or just recently adopted from a rescue you can teach them dog agility. If your pup is healthy most dogs are perfectly Photo by Terry Meyers able to handle any piece of dog agility equipment. It's a great way to bond with your pet and it's fun for both handler and pet. And agility training is a healthy option for both dog and handler. It's not only good exercise but it is challenging and provides a unique type of exercise. While a walk in the park keeps a dog in shape, dashing through a tunnel and leaping over jumps or climbing an obstacle mimics the instinctive behavior of dogs in the wild. Dogs love theses types of activities and tend to be calmer and happier when challenged. For the past two months dogs of all ages and sizes have been learning dog agility in our beautiful dog agility park. Stop by the park and see how exciting and fun it can be for the dogs and handlers! While it sometimes seems that agility training is difficult it's really just playtime for you and your pet. You will be surprised how quickly your dog can pick up these skills. Classes are about over for this season but new classes will start in the fall.
