our school district and community Harrington School District is located in the beautiful wheat fields of Lincoln County in Eastern Washington. Harrington School currently enrolls 155 students in preschool through 12th grade, with an FTE of 133 students. Harrington has 13 certified teachers, and a counselor three days each week. We are a single building with an elementary wing, a secondary wing, full gym, multipurpose room/cafeteria, music room, agriculture room, agriculture mechanics shop and an indoor swimming pool. Harrington School offers full time, free preschool and pre-kindergarten classes. Additionally, we have substantially upgraded our agriculture mechanics program over the last 4 years, adding all new woodworking equipment, upgraded welding equipment and computer controlled plasma cutter. All computer technology has been upgraded in the last 3 years, with new servers, and entirely upgraded wireless system, 1:1 Chromebooks for all 1-12 students and new computers in our business lab. Our aging facilities are well-maintained. Kitchen equipment is new and we have received a state grant of $95,000 to improve our pool. Our pool is fully operational and is used by both the Harrington community, and all PE students every week. We have demonstrated growth on state SBA assessments and local AIMSWEB assessments. This year, Harrington returned to an independent athletics program, once again embracing the Panther mascot in red and black. In February of 2018, our community passed both a Capital Projects levy of $220,000 and an Operations Levy of $270,000. Both measures passed with more than 75% voter approval. We have average class sizes of 15, a student-centered and flexible staff and a cohesive board of directors. The Harrington School District consists of the town of Harrington (population 400) and the surrounding area. It is a small, rural farm town located an hour west of Spokane, and hour east of Moses Lake, and 13 miles south of the Lincoln County Seat of Davenport, WA. Our town has a regionally known 9 hole golf course, a small grocery store, gas station, auto parts store, bank and a newly opened coffee shop. In recent years, there has been a resurgence in growth in the town and the school, and our historic down town has seen considerable restoration, with the remodeling of the Harrington Opera House and ongoing work on the vintage Electric Hotel. The Harrington School District has strong support from families and is the center of the community. Our students and citizens are known for their kind, warm and welcoming attitude.

our challenges and opportunities The Board of Directors would like our new Superintendent to help refine and implement a unified vision for Harrington School District; maintain quality and breadth of student programing needs to prepare students for a successful future; maintain and expand school safety; upgrading of school facilities; continue prudent and effective financial practices; promote overall growth of the school and manage the challenges that accompany changes in student population.
