Hawaii 3 Island Tour Oahu, Big Island and Maui

January 12-22, 2017 • 10 Days Day 1 Thurs. Jan 12 Meet us at the airport for our morning flight from Minneapolis direct to Honolulu on the island of Oahu where we will be greeted with a fresh flower lei. We will be transported to our hotel in Waikiki, the Aqua Oasis, for a 3 night stay. Day 2 Fri. Jan 13 After breakfast today we will visit Pearl Harbor, the USS Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri Battleship. Home by mid afternoon, explore Waikiki Beach, take a sunset cruise or enjoy a dinner in one of the many fine restaurants. (B) Day 3 Sat. Jan 14 After breakfast enjoy a Circle Island Tour of Oahu with stops at Hanauma Bay, Kualoa Ranch, with drive by views of northern surfing beaches and a stop at Haleiwa Beach Park for photos. Visit the Dole Plantation where you can grab a sandwich and a Dole Whip before we drive past the Cemetery of the Pacific and the Iolani Palace. Return home by mid afternoon for more time to relax on Waikiki Beach, rent snorkeling gear or a paddle board, take a dinner cruise or do some shopping. (B)

This tour has a “flexible” departure. Choose “Park & Fly” (park your car at a parking location near the airport) or choose a “Pre-flight Hotel” (hotel stay on your own, overnight on Jan 12th and take hotel shuttle to airport.) *pre-flight hotel details are available upon request.

Day 4 Sun. Jan 15 Early departure for a short flight to the Big Island of Hawaii. From Hilo we visit Rainbow Falls, try some samples at the Mauma Loa Macadamia nut farm, visit the Akatsuka Orchid farm and head to Volcanoes National Park. After lunch on our own at Volcano Restaurant overlooking the Halema’uma’u Crater, we visit Jaggar Museum and Kilauea Visitor Center on the rim of the crater. We walk through the Thurston Lava Tube in the Fern Tree Jungle and see steam vents along the Chain of Craters Road. We look for giant sea turtles at Punaluu Black Sand Beach. Later we arrive at our home for the next 3 nights, the beautiful Royal Kona Resort in Kailua-Kona. (B)

Hawaii 3 Island Tour Oahu, Big Island and Maui Day 5 Mon. Jan 16 After a buffet breakfast we visit the Kona Living History Farm for a tour of a working coffee and macadamia nut farm. Sample the world’s famous coffees! You will have the afternoon free to explore the beautiful resort, restaurants and shops of Kailua-Kona. This evening we enjoy a delightful Historical Dinner Cruise along the coast of Kona. (B,D) Day 6 Tues. Jan 17 Free day for exploration of the Big Island. Check with the hotel concierge to arrange excursions, such as snorkeling, submarine ride, fishing, helicopter rides, zip lining, etc. Or rent a bike and pedal along the coastline, swim in the hotel’s private lagoon and see colorful fish, or the hotel pool or take the free trolley for an excursion. (B) Day 7 Wed. Jan 18 Today we take a short flight to the island of Maui and then go to our luxury Royal Lahaina Resort. Spend the afternoon exploring the resort’s features, including the beautiful sandy beach in front. This evening we enjoy a traditional Hawaiian Luau right at the resort. (B,D)

Day 8 Thurs. Jan 19 This morning we enjoy the most famous activity on Maui, whale watching, on a 2-hour guided tour onboard a Pacific Whale Foundation vessel. This afternoon is exploration time in historic Lahaina, finding lunch on your own at many local restaurants. Stroll and shop until midafternoon when we return to the resort. (B) Day 9 Fri. Jan 20 Enjoy the entire day on your own to relax or explore this beautiful island. Choose snorkeling, zip lining, a tour to the volcano Haleakala or the road to Hanna. There is golfing or tennis right at the hotel. Or just soak up the sun in the hotel pool or on the beautiful sandy beach. (B) Day 10 Sat. Jan 21 Enjoy your last day at this luxury hotel with some leisurely activities. We have extended our rooms until 4PM and will leave early this evening for our flight back to the mainland. (B) Day 11 Sun. Jan 22 Our flight arrives in Minneapolis in the early afternoon.
