STUDY- Intense Doctor Angst over EMRs The 2009 Recovery Act has radically reduced physician satisfaction. The lawʼs incentives and penalties to adopt interoperable, government-certified electronic health records have made doctors quite unhappy. Physicians told researchers that EHRs require time-consuming data entry, interfere with face to face patient care, and interrupt their thought processes with a deluge of electronic alerts. Essentially they are becoming clerks and having difficulty taking care of patients the way they should. Doctors also distrust medical records that contain standardized template-based “click and paste” notes. These record systems were built for billing, not patient care. “Physiciansʼ Concerns About Electronic Health Records: Implications and Steps Towards Solutions,” Mark W. Friedberg et.al, The Rand Blog, March 12, 2014.
