Medicare Advantage Closes 700 Physician's Doors Obamacare cuts Medicare payments by more than half a trillion dollars. In response, United Health, the nationʼs largest Medicare Advantage HMO provider, is reducing access to physicians. For example, in Massachusetts 700 physicians will be cut from the network. Closing 700 doors to health care is one way to ration care. Approximately 30 percent of all seniors are enrolled in Medicare Advantage HMOs, which get paid more per enrollee than traditional Medicare pays. The HMOs can ration health care more easily than traditional Medicare where all doors are open. Which Medicare do you want? To protect themselves against rationing, younger Americans need to be able to keep private insurance for a lifetime. “Medicare Still Needs Reform – Soon,” Alyene Senger, The Daily Signal, August 20, 2014.
