Obamacare on Trial - Day Three Part 1 Obamacare on Trial, Day Three. The Supreme Court is focusing on the Medicaid mandate and severability. Medicaid may seem a dull subject, but not so. Under Obamacare, 100 million more recipients will be enrolled by 2021, just seven years from now. That will put state taxpayers on the hook for at least $20 billion to $42 billion by the end of the decade. In addition, because of the mandate, the 18 percent of the nearly 50 million uninsured who are eligible for Medicaid will be added to the rolls. Say goodbye to more funding for roads, education and other projects. Expect higher taxes. See what I mean. Not so dull. “States of Florida, et al, v. United States Dept. of HHS, et al – Amici Curiae Brief of the American Civil Rights Union and the Social Security Institute in Support of Petitioners on Medicaid,” Peter Ferrara, American Civil Rights Union, no date.
