Health Freedom Minute July 17, 2015

The AHRQ That Should Be Sunk The federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, commonly called AHRQ (“ark”) is not like Noah’s life-saving ark. This AHRQ is focused on taking over the practice of medicine. AHRQ receives nearly $500 million a year to impose government control on doctors. AHRQ pushes rationing strategies like pay-for-performance, electronic health records, comparative effectiveness research, value-based purchasing, evidence-based medicine, health equity, population health, and quality measurement. Like Orwellian Newspeak, these words sound good but aren’t. A bill in the House would defund AHRQ, but the U.S. Senate only plans to cut its funds. Call Congress and tell them to “Sink the ARHQ. Sink the AHRQ” Shut it down. “House Spending Bill to ‘Terminate’ AHRQ,” Lisa Simpson, AcademyHealth Blog, June 17, 2015. “H.R. _______ Full Committee Print [Appropriations bill for Departments of Labor, Health and Humans Services, and Education…. For fisal year ending September 30, 2016],” 2015.
