1.1 Medical situation in RIC

1.1 Lack of interpreters at the hospital regularly creating a gap. RIS has requested for new ones.  Metadrasi interpreter is now present at the Hospital (Check with Metadrasi). No update from RIS. 1.2 Medicine for lice is needed, Suggestion for Praksis to provide the medicine.  Praksis in Athens is providing 20.000 Euros for September and October for Medicines through a frame agreement with Pharmacies in Leros. WAHA is also providing medicines upon request. So far no problems with the provisions of specialized medicine.

1.3 Referral pathway for private doctors will continue going through WAHA. Leaflet of instructions for the hospital to be reviewed again by WAHA and Praksis.

1.4 No progress on the installation of Mosquito nets. Pilot ones installed were not practical to use. Need to discuss the subject in the next LCM.

1.8 Scabies is a major issue. Need to treat the entire Pakistani population (143) as there is a risk that the disease will spread. 1 Case of genital herpes was identified.

1.9 Hygiene 1.9 SP will consider the request of providing liquid soaps just for the medical container as well as additional utilities. Proposal by SP to install 100 extra garbage bins, as well as perform hygiene promotion. There is no plan for vector control in HS according to RIS, but there is a plan of distributing cleaning kits to containers.

1.10 Medical personnel

1.10 3 New health care assistants present in Pikpa and RIC from Praksis (6 in total). None of them speak English. Currently receiving training from Praksis nurse. Not all 3 are necessary in Pikpa due to the small number of patients.

1.12 Medical Donations

1.12 RIC: A donation from Katerini of medications, mainly painkillers, antibiotics, antidepressants. Medicines are expecting also from Praxis. SP inquired on the possibility of seconded medical personnel; Staff will first have to register in order to practice medicine.

1.13 An additional 300 booklets will be printed and distributed to the clinic in the RIC and PIKPA.

2.1 WAHA doctor, nurse and translator have arrived and will stay until December. Psychologist is leaving by the end of the week. Recruitment process for an Arab speaking Psychologist is ongoing. 2.1 WAHA

No hospital representative present on the 14.09 Racist story from the hospital surgeon has been reported by WAHA doctor. Protection team should follow up the case with the head of the hospital.
