Essentia Trading Ltd has been established to act as the trading arm of Essentia, the non-clinical services directorate of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and our profits are reinvested into the Trust. Essentia is already established as a leading provider of non-clinical support services in the NHS in London and has developed a strong reputation in the sector. Essentia Trading provides consultancy services, working with clients on strategy and estate development, and helping them to become more efficient and more effective. We provide specialist advisory services in strategic estate development, healthcare planning, capital development, property consultancy, sustainability, technology and interim resourcing. Healthcare Planning Healthcare planning focuses on finding clinically and financially sustainable solutions that create high-quality environments for patients and staff. Essentia provides a comprehensive healthcare planning offering ranging from strategic reviews to equipment advice and commissioning of health facilities. We focus on healthcare across all settings and we overlap with other public sectors including social services, education and research. Essentia’s Healthcare Planning team comprises dedicated people from a range of backgrounds including clinical, architecture, informatics, finance and NHS operational management. Our people have worked both within the NHS and across a range of health organisations internationally and we have unique access to clinical and research expertise across Kings Health Partnership, a leading UK Academic Health Sciences Centre to support our consultancy services. Role Summary As a graduate the applicant should be seeking a role that provides commercial consultancy services to public and private health organisations, both within the UK and internationally. In conjunction with the Director of Healthcare Planning and others, you will support the Healthcare Planning Team in achieving the overall business plan to grow and develop healthcare planning as a leading edge offering to external clients, including NHS organisations and private sector clients both within the UK and internationally. The post-holder will work on a range of new and existing projects and will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of the project. As part of the healthcare planning team they will contribute to the delivery of a range of healthcare planning advisory support to clients including: • • • • • • • • • •

Whole system market analysis including Demographics, and Population Based Planning Clinical Service Reviews and Estate Strategies Demand and Capacity Modelling and statistical analyses Business Case Development Evidence-based Functional and Clinical Briefing Operational efficiency and process mapping and redesign Application of Lean Principles and Techniques Schedules of Accommodation and Room Data Sheets Design Development and Facility Planning Stakeholder Facilitation.

The role is full time and will combine office based and client facing time. The post holder will be expected to work within the healthcare planning team providing support and assistance whilst making their own positive contribution to the development of healthcare planning expertise, processes and procedures to ensure a quality assured service delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities Support to: • • • • • •

provide consultancy advice to assist clients with operational efficiency, process mapping and re-design. undertake analysis of local demographics and population to influence healthcare planning models. the development of demand modelling and capacity modelling including detailed statistical analysis. the development of business cases for external clients. working with clients to develop strategic estates business cases, providing data, evidence and intelligence. the development of bids and fee proposals including clear and concise wording, diagrams, organisational charts and pictures that best demonstrate the team’s capabilities. the business development and marketing team to produce marketing material that can promote the healthcare planning teams expert skills and experience. putting clients first and achieving maximum client satisfaction.

Financial Responsibilities •

Maintaining accurate timesheet recording of own time for client recharge and management purposes.

Personal development •

Participate in the annual performance and development review cycle (PDR) to achieve personal objectives, demonstrate the company values and behaviours. An annual review process will include an assessment against individual’s objectives and performance targets.

General The post holder is required to follow Essentia Trading policies and procedures which are regularly updated including: Confidentiality / Data Protection / Freedom of Information Post holders must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business in accordance with the Data Protection Act of 1998. Post holders must not, without prior permission, disclose any information regarding patients or staff. If any member of staff has communicated any such information to an unauthorised person those staff will be liable to dismissal. Moreover, the Data Protection Act 1998 also renders an individual liable for prosecution in the event of unauthorised disclosure of information. Following the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) 2005, post holders must apply With Essentia Trading FOI procedure if they receive a written request for information. Health and Safety All post holders have a responsibility, under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and subsequently published regulations, to ensure that the health and safety policies and procedures are complied with to maintain a safe working environment for patients, visitors and employees. Infection Control All post holders have a personal obligation to act to reduce healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs). They must attend mandatory training in Infection Control and be compliant with all measures required by Essentia Trading to reduce HCAIs. All post holders must comply with the infection screening and immunisation policies as well as be familiar with Infection Control Policies, including those that apply to their duties, such as Hand Decontamination Policy, Personal Protective Equipment Policy, safe procedures for using aseptic techniques and safe disposal of sharps. Risk Management All post holders have a responsibility to report risks such as clinical and nonclinical accidents or incidents promptly. They are expected to be familiar with the use of risk assessments to predict and control risk, as well as the incident reporting system for learning from mistakes and near misses in order to improve services. Post holders must also attend training identified by their manager, or stated by GSTS Pathology to be mandatory.

Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults Post holders have a general responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in the course of their daily duties and for ensuring that they are aware of the specific duties relating to their role.
