G U I D E

Doors Open Denver is an annual, FREE two-day event that provides opportunities for residents and visitors to explore our city, creating meaningful connections to the built environment and promoting quality design. Each spring, the Denver Architectural Foundation inspires the community to connect, through self-guided or expert-guided (fee-based) tours of Denver’s unique spaces, including highprofile, historic and/or artistic feats of architecture and design. In many cases, the public would not otherwise be able to access these sites.

BUILDING BEHAVIOR CULTURAL PLATFORM BUILDING BEHAVIOR Architecture and urban design remain the most tangible ways of constructing social spaces. The way cities are built informs how we move, connect, and behave. Building Behavior, the art platform for the 2017 Doors Open Denver weekend, is a series of 6 cultural events that respond to the psychological and social underpinnings of Denver’s architecture. By exploring the intangible aspects of built environments, we find perhaps architecture’s true nature—the ability to design mood, invite culture, and influence behavior. ~Cortney Lane Stell, curator All of the below events are free and open to the public during DOD weekend.

Peep Show S aturday and Sunday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Castle Marne, 1572 Race St Peep Show is an exhibition that takes place in Uptown’s Castle Marne Bed & Breakfast, an 1889 Historic Landmark building turned familyowned inn. Twelve Denver-based artists have created experimental artworks that respond to the building’s psychological underpinnings as a place for honeymooners, tourists, and architectural enthusiasts.

Help Sam give a voice to the buildings of our city by telling him your most memorable experiences with Denver’s architecture.
