What makes a woman surgeon? INVITATION to participate in research Study title: Women’s experiences of being and becoming surgeons What is the research about? This study investigates how and why women decide to become surgeons, and their experiences of surgical training and careers. Findings will help researchers: • Better understand factors that support or discourage women in surgical programs • Develop practical strategies to improve surgical training and the professional culture, particularly as these are experienced by women trainees and surgeons Who can participate in the research? Women surgical trainees and surgeons who are undertaking or have completed their training in Australia. What will happen on the study? You will be interviewed about your views and experiences of surgical training and (if applicable) your career as a consultant surgeon. The interviews will take place at a convenient location for you. Interviews will take approximately 1-2 hours, but this will depend on the length of your responses. How do I get involved?
