Hi. I’m Carrie. VICE PRESIDENT, BROKING, NEW YORK ALL ABOUT ME I grew up in Connecticut, and graduated from the Boston College Honors Program in 2009. I was a varsity swimmer at BC, and also ran the Boston Marathon my senior year. After obtaining my ARe (Associate in Reinsurance) and AIS (Associate in Insurance Services) designations, I decided to continue my education, and just graduated from the NYU Stern School of Business, with an MBA in Finance, Global Business, and Leadership & Change Management. Outside of work, I enjoy trying new restaurants, running, and spending time with family and friends.

MY ROLE ASPIRATIONS I work in treaty broking in Guy Carpenter, and my team is focused on developing smart, cutting edge solutions designed to maximize capital deployment and offer improved financial results for some of Guy Carpenter’s global clients. The risk management industry is at a turning point, and as my career progresses, I hope to influence positive change by offering innovative and alternative solutions for new and developing issues. I plan to leverage the analytical skills I have developed to continue to create, communicate and deliver value for Guy Carpenter’s clients.

WHY I CHOSE RE/INSURANCE I chose a career in reinsurance because I believe that there is significant opportunity, and that this is a dynamic and evolving industry. Re/insurance is so multifaceted, and impacts all aspects of the economy. I appreciate that there is always a chance to develop new ideas and address the complexities of emerging issues. Another important consideration was interacting with a broad group of people, and given the global nature of the business, I have had the opportunity to travel within the US, and also to Bermuda and Europe.

WHAT SURPRISED ME MOST? I was surprised by how vast the re/insurance industry is. Like many people who do not work in re/insurance, I had a cursory understanding of health, life, and auto insurance, but did not fully grasp the importance of insurance and reinsurance in helping to manage risk, capital, and financial results.
