The High Line is a mile-and-a-half public park built on an historic freight rail line elevated thirty feet above the streets of Manhattan’s west side. Founded in 1999 by two community residents, Friends of the High Line fought for the High Line’s preservation and transformation at a time when the historic structure was under the threat of demolition. It is now the non-profit conservancy that maintains, operates, and programs the High Line, in partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation.

Friends of the High Line is also responsible for raising more than 98 percent of the park’s annual operating budget. A significant portion of this revenue comes from venue site fees, which help to improve the park’s functionality, horticulture, and public programs for nearly eight million visitors to enjoy each year.

VISITATION + PROMOTION OPPORTUNITIES
Visitation Because the High Line is a landmark destination and not a street-level commercial thoroughfare, visitors have the time and willingness to participate in new experiences. This setting, along with the park’s narrow pathways and visitation density, ensure that public-facing events are a success, reaching 60,000+ visitors on the park’s busiest weekend days.
