CLUB CHAI’S INVITATION TO ALL TEMPLE MEMBERS: JOIN US FOR AN EXCURSION TO THE VANDERBILT MANSION, MUSEUM AND PLANETARIUM

Tuesday, September 6 9:30 a.m. William K. Vanderbilt loved the oceans and the natural world. In his global travels, he amassed one of the world’s most extensive, privately-held collections of fish, marine life, birds, invertebrates and other cultural artifacts and he planned to build a personal museum on his Long Island estate, Eagle’s Nest. Nine of the dioramas at the Vanderbilt museum were created by artisans from the American Museum of Natural History. Eagle’s Nest, a 43-acre waterfront estate located in Centerport, is unusual for estate architecture on Long Island because of its Spanish design, a style seldom seen in this region. Our trip will include a tour of the museum, the estate, and the planetarium. Transportation is available for those who would prefer not to drive their own cars. After the tour, we’ll meet at a nearby restaurant for lunch. Tickets are $20 per person, not including the cost of lunch. If you have any questions or would like to reserve your spot, please call Thea Zuckerman at 516-487-8129. We look forward to spending the day with you.
