How to write an award winning entry Every year the recruitment industry hosts a number of award evenings to celebrate and reward some of the industry’s best talent. An award-winner is more than a person – it’s the quality of the entry. This guide will give you the best tips on how to write an award-winning entry for any industry award. Why is this important to enter awards?
Industry awards can do wonders for you and your employer. The confidence and rewards it can give both you and your business can not be underestimated. From an industry perspective, entering an award means a panel of judges and high-profile recruitment representatives will see your best work. You never know when your good impression will prove useful - at your next interview, or a new boss who remembers your success.
Key points
Here are our top tips for writing that all-important award entry: 1. Follow the instructions This might seem obvious, but make sure you read the guidelines. If you want to impress the judges, it’s vital what you say is easy to understand. 2. Preparation Make sure you get all your facts together first. Prepare your evidence so you can complete it in a timely manner. 3. Be compelling Make your submission compelling by taking the reader on a journey through your initiative or project. Remember to create memorable key messages and make your entry stand out. 4. Use images wisely Using images help to tell your story, but they are only good if they make sense at a glance, add value and have a clear purpose.

5. Show that you are the best Explain why you should win the award. And ‘because you are great’ is not a recommended answer. Make sure you’ve got the evidence you need to prove how your project made a difference. 6. Supporting documents Include a variety of supporting information, like quotes from your beneficiaries or relevant professionals, photographs, press cuttings and statistics. 7. Check your entry It pays to get someone to read your draft submission and rule objectively on its merits.
