FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif: The Barons of Fountain Valley High School

Michael Simons

(FVHS) are pleased to announce the hiring of their new Head Football Coach, Jimmy Nolan. Coach Nolan comes to FVHS after most recently serving as the Head Football Coach at Lakewood High School in the Long Beach Unified School District.

Prior to his career as a coach, Nolan played football at Mater Dei High School and The University of Utah before playing professional ball in Europe and various arena leagues. Following his own career as athlete, Coach Nolan committed himself to coaching -- first as an assistant coach at both Mater Dei High School and FVHS under former Head Coach Eric Johnson. After gaining experience as an assistant coach, Coach Nolan accepted his first head coaching position at Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary High School in Montebello and thrived from there on out. In the following years, Coach Nolan also served as the Head Football Coach at both Laguna Beach High School and Compton-Centennial High School where he was named the Long Beach Press-Telegram’s Coach of the Year succeeding his first season. Throughout his time at both Cantwell and Laguna Beach, Nolan coached his teams to three league championships. Since 2014, Nolan has devotedly served as the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator during his tenure at Lakewood. For two seasons under Coach Nolan, the Lakewood Lancers finished second in the highly-competitive Moore League only to the longstanding power of Long Beach Polytechnic High School. Also, both years his team advanced to the CIF playoffs. “Coach Nolan brings many qualities to our Baron Football program,” Fountain Valley High School principal, Dr. Morgan Smith shared. “His leadership on the field as well as off the field will support our core values, integrity and competitive spirit. We’re looking forward to a new era with an amazing coaching staff.” Off the field, Nolan and his wife Taran have two daughters and one son, all under the age of seven. Additionally, for nearly 18 years, Nolan has owned and operated Speed Kills, an agility training program for athletes of all ages. Welcome back to the Baron family, Coach Nolan!
