            IHRC  Internship  Opportunities  &  Volunteer  Opportunities     The  International  Human  Rights  Clinic  (IHRC)  at  The  John  Marshall  Law  School  welcomes   applications  for  its  internship  program  for  law  students  or  pro  bono  attorneys.  The  IHRC   interns  will  play  an  integral  role  in  the  IHRC’s  Human  Rights  for  Syrians  Initiative  in  the  creation   of  this  new  initiative.    IHRC  interns  will  gain  substantive  experience  in  the  fields  of   international  human  rights  and  advocacy.       IHRC  interns  will  work  closely  with  IHRC’s  director  in  developing  and  implementing  the   initiative.       Specific  duties  may  vary  according  to  the  projects  and  client  needs,  but  will  generally  include:       • Legal  research  and  writing  on  human  rights  and  international  justice  topics  for   advocacy  reports  and  scholarly  articles;     • Organization  of  advocacy  efforts;     • Coordination  of  volunteers  and  students  working  in  the  initiative;     • Conducting  intake  of  potential  clients;     • Producing  press  releases  and  other  media  related  pieces  for  social  media;     • Identifying  funding  opportunities  for  the  initiative;     • Liaising  with  other  human  rights  organizations.       Interns  and/or  Pro  Bono  attorneys  will  participate  in  advocacy  campaigns  and  events,  and  will   contribute  significantly  to  the  creation  of  this  unique  initiative.  Interns  must  be  able  to  meet  in   person  on  a  weekly  basis  at  the  IHRC  offices,  but  may  work  remotely  the  rest  of  the  time.       Desired  Qualifications:     • J.D.  (or  working  towards  obtaining  J.D.)   • English  fluency;  Arabic  is  a  plus   • Excellent  research  and  writing  skills   • Interest  in  international  human  rights  and  asylum  work   • Academic  or  professional  experience  in  researching  internationally  related  topics;   • Demonstrated  commitment  to  public  interest;     • Proactive  and  ability  to  work  independently.       How  to  apply:     Please  email  IHRC  Director,  Sarah  Dávila-­‐Ruhaak  at  [email protected]  a  cover  letter  and   resume.  Cover  letter  should  mention  foreign  language  skills,  and  relevant  past  or  current  work   with  human  rights  or  social  justice  organizations.
