This workshop, developed by ISBE Content Area Specialists, will empower teachers and educational leaders to bring about the change necessary to implement the Illinois Learning Standards for Science and Social Science in elementary classrooms.

Workshop Objectives:  Engage in elementary aligned content incorporating inquiry to emphasize the full intent of the Illinois Learning Standards for Science and Social Science.  Explore sample interdisciplinary units/lessons which incorporate various subject areas into unit planning.  Examine resources designed to support implementation of standards, specifically at the elementary level.  Encompass science and social science content within your literacy block while meeting the full intent of the Illinois Learning Standards.  Empower educators to be advocates for change as they refine their understanding of the Illinois Learning Standards for Science and Social Science.
