In North Lanarkshire, we know that public space CCTV makes a real difference to people in communities. That’s why, where others are scaling back, TCA Ltd – which operates CCTV on behalf of North Lanarkshire Council – had the vision to invest. Councillor Jim Logue is the leader of the council. He says: “Improving health, wellbeing and care in our communities is a key priority, and that means looking after people. CCTV plays an enormous part in keeping people safe and in dealing with crime and antisocial behaviour. “Our public space CCTV has been used time and again to help communities become more resilient and it’s essential we make best use of the most advanced technology. That comes at an initial cost of £1.3million, but it also means savings year after year.” The first council in Scotland to implement a project of this scale, we had to be sure SPIE could deliver the service we required, and we weren’t disappointed. In October 2015, SPIE and Core were challenged with implementation of the network before the termination of our previous contract, due for renewal at the end of March 2016. The dedication of the SPIE and Core teams brought this project to fruition and they surpassed our expectations by delivering a nine-‐month programme in little over six. Due to the design of the network offered by SPIE we now offer a service that is more resilient than the previous solution. Without the need to rely on utility companies, we have reduced installation timescales and become more responsive in relocation and installation of cameras allowing our business to become more efficient. This project has been a true spend to save exercise and is already showing great benefits to our business and the communities of North Lanarkshire. SPIE delivered on so many levels throughout the project, not only on customer service but meeting tight deadlines and always in a professional manner.
