Former SSI Steel worker Alan Clark, entrepreneur Lewis Marr and chef Ryan Healey all attended the College and have gone on to great things.

Degree in Sports Coaching and Exercise programme. He said: “The enthusiasm and support from Hartlepool College filled me with the confidence to go it alone. I am so glad I did, I couldn’t be happier with the results”.

Alan, who now represents his community as a councillor completed an Access to Humanities course.

Award-winning pastry chef, Ryan, who began his culinary career at the College’s Flagship Restaurant whilst studying for his Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery and Patisserie and Confectionary certificate, said:

All we request is a wage slip within 3 months of your start date, or a current employment contract which states gross monthly / annual wages. There are also more ways to secure free or reduced costs for courses. We offer a range of Maths and English courses - Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 Functional Skills English - Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 Functional Skills Maths - GCSE English Language and Mathematics Anyone can do it. Courses are open to anyone who does not already have GCSE maths/English at grade A*-C or 9 – 4.

Did you know if you take out an Advanced Learner Loan for any Access course, the loan for the course fee is waived when you progress onto Higher Education.

Both Functional Skills and GCSE classes are held at various times during the week with courses starting in September and finishing in June. So pop along to our specialist Open Event. All welcome. *Courses are only free if you do not have a level 2 or equivalent GCSE in English or mathematics.
