It’s one of the most important topics we review each year – infection control. Program faculty will review some of the basic protective procedures both personally and within the home, as well as emphasize proper care for patients with HIV/AIDS or Tuberculosis. Remember, the more precautions you take, the safer and healthier you and your patients will be.

Identify PPE for Influenza and other exposure. Identify signs and symptoms of Hepatitis. Identify the differences between HIV and AIDS. Identify the key points of HIV infection and transmission. Identify the four body fluids that transmit HIV and list ways to reduce the spread. Identify various types of HIV testing and distinguish between confidential versus anonymous testing. Identify the difference between Latent TB Infection and Active TB Disease. Identify preventive treatment and how to stop the spread of TB. Identify who is responsible for reporting confirmed and suspected cases of TB.
