No noncompliant items noted this inspection. Note: Water quality records continue to show sporadic brief instances of unacceptably high coliform levels. On one occasion, for example, the seal feeding pool was noted to have a coliform count of 12000 on 8 May 2000. However, subsequent retests on 10 and 13 May 2000 registered counts of7400 and 31000, respectively. Because this facility has. an open system whereby sea water is constantly being replaced, the water containing the high coliform levels was removed promptly from the pool. However, the fact that these unexplained episodes of high coliform levels continue to occur indicates that there may be a system-wide problem which needs to be addressed. This situation will be monitored closely during future inspections. End of report.
