OUR STORY
Our musical pursuits were short lived, well, at least that’s what our parents thought. Growing up in Texas with a British Mom and a southern Dad, a prolific songwriter and musician, piano lessons were part of life. But, Becca and I spent most of our free time being teammates on the soccer field! The home we grew up in became a gathering place for the broken. Friends and neighbors would come to eat, pray and worship; sometimes into the early hours of the morning, while us kids would play in the background.
Through our parents, an impression was made on our hearts. Seeing firsthand what ministry is about, a seed was planted in us to serve the Lord, though we didn’t yet know how. Then an opportunity came knocking. Lyrics, which began as thoughts, turned into prayers and were jotted down in my journal. Knowing just a few guitar chords, songs were created during my devotional time in God’s Word. The moment our youth pastor heard one song, titled “Use Me”, he invited us to share this with our church. That was 13 years ago. Every drop creates a ripple effect. Just one step forward, though intimidated by an audience at first, planted in us the desire to use music as a tool to be a voice to young women. We said “yes” to God and continued to write, sing and speak where He led. This ripple effect grew, taking us to places we never imagined - from a small town near Southampton, England to “You and Your Girl”, a LifeWay tour that saw 18,000 moms and daughters reconciled. I continue to be amazed at God’s love for His daughters. Each song, every word, and all that we do is to point them to Jesus. Elissa
