Use of #hashtags Research the best hashtags for you. You can use up to 30 hashtags however it won’t necessarily mean that your post will get more reach. Use a combination of very popular hashtags and less popular hashtags. Create your own hashtag and use this. Note: IG will penalise you if you are using the exact same hashtags for every post. Test it out and experiment. Check out some youtube videos from social media experts on the latest hashtag best use (the IG algorithms change like the wind!)

Make sure you have video posts in your main feed at least one every 6 posts Make it easy for visitors to LISTEN to your music without needing to click on an external link Utilize IGTV to showcase your music with longer clips - all easily done through your phone

BEHIND THE SCENES - music fans LOVE to see the process behind the artist - it's facinating to them! editing in your home studio on tea break with your producer & team in the recording studio boarding flight to foreign lands for first leg of your tour a snap of your afternoon rehearsal (post this on day of gig) share a pic of your songwriting notebook complete with your scribbles, doodles & edits! your fans will be interested to know - where you go on holiday and what type of holiday you enjoy, whether you're a dog or cat person, charitable causes you support, latest fashion trends you have a strong opinion on, things that inspire you, something mundane from an average day in your life - you're a regular person after all (even though you've been bestowed with musical genius) :-)

Promo projects well ahead of time - before they are finished Album /EP release - 'very excited to be putting the finishing touches to my new release due out in 3 weeks time - stay tuned for more details' Tour/ Gigs - 'very pumped about all the iconic venues we're playing in for our upcoming European tour - tickets go on sale X date'

Ask your fans for input – on album covers, merch ideas etc. ‘hey guys, I’m deciding on my next album cover, what one do you like best?’ This creates engagement on your account and pleases the IG gods no end.

Run a promotion or competition and get fans

reposting / tagging friends for your gig or tour You can use this idea to advertise your live shows - this can create HUGE reach to new audiences across more IG accounts Have an after show VIP meet up where your fans & the competition winners get to spend some time with you in person
