Intern Wanted Application deadline: January 20, 2017 How would you like to work for an innovative not-for-profit that brings senior executives and rising leaders from all sectors together to tackle urban challenges facing the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA)? Join CivicAction as an Intern. In this position, you will have the opportunity to engage with some exciting and influential civic leaders in the GTHA and contribute to creating more inclusive workplaces in our province. Learn more at www.civicaction.ca. With 170,000 young people in Ontario not in employment, education or training, we need concentrated action from many partners to make a dent in this issue. With a strategy in place and three interventions well underway, CivicAction is now working to take Escalator across the Province and develop evidence-based tools to help leaders identify and address barriers within their organizations that may hinder the success of young people. We are looking for an actionoriented Intern to help make this a reality.

ABOUT THIS POSITION: CivicAction is seeking a full-time Intern for a 6 month period (from February 2017 to July 2017) to support the coordination and implementation of activities relating to CivicAction’s Escalator: Jobs for Youth Facing Barriers initiative. Working with Project Managers and CivicAction’s community of leaders, the intern will be responsible for helping drive core activities of the initiative.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Project and Administrative Support

    

Support activities of volunteer working groups and consultations Schedule events and contact management Assist in all aspects of meetings and events; distributing agendas and other materials; booking meeting rooms; arranging refreshments; and taking and distributing minutes at selected meetings Maintain necessary electronic and paper filing system for CivicAction Support the development of a self-assessment tool to help employers

POSITION REQUIREMENTS / EXPECTATIONS: Experience, Skills & Knowledge  Experience working with business and community partners preferred  Proven ability to “get things” done  Knowledge of the needs and experiences of youth facing barriers to employment will be considered an asset
