Details of the Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for development and implementation of an education and training program for the agency. The candidate will have knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of adult education.

Job Description Classification and Hours

Attached 17.5 hours per week. Flexible schedule to be determined in consultation with the successful applicant. Must be able to work weekends and evenings as needed. JJEP Wage Grid, Level 12

Job Summary:

The Education and Training Coordinator will be responsible for development and implementation of an education and training program for the agency. The role will include developing and implementing models for education and training, both internal and external to the agency.

Reports To:

Community Programs Manager

Key Duties And Responsibilities:

1. Together with the Community Programs Manager, develops a clear vision, mission and plan for the Education and Training Program. 2. Develops a training model for staff and for volunteers together with the Volunteer Program Coordinator and program managers and coordinates the delivery of the training. 3. Develops a community-based education model for delivery to various organizations in the community and coordinates the delivery of education and training to the community. 4. When possible and/or required, delivers training both internal and external to the agency. 5. Develops a model for online delivery of training and education and, together with the IT Coordinator, implements the online training model. 6. Develops policy guidelines for education and training as required.

7. Evaluates the program, makes recommendations to the Community Programs Manager and plans for implementation of recommendations as approved for the improvement of the program.

8. Promotes public awareness of the communitybased education program by developing appropriate promotional materials and making presentations. 9. Monitors expenditures and provides input to the Community Programs Manager in the preparation of the budget. 10. Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required. 11. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

A relevant diploma at a minimum is required, i.e., education, social sciences; a degree will be considered an asset.

Education, Training and Experience:

Minimum of two years recent related experience is required or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Formal education and experience in adult education or training will be considered essential skills and knowledge. Experience developing curriculum will be considered an asset.

Job Skills and Abilities:

Strong oral, written, presentation and organizational skills. Knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of adult education. Excellent time management skills. Ability to organize and conduct training. Ability to work effectively with other program team members in the coordination of education and training. Ability to liaise effectively with community-based organizations.
