International Development Planning Review: Call for a Co-Editor 1. International Development Planning Review (IDPR), an interdisciplinary journal for the critical study of development related practices, planning and policy in the global South, invites applications for the position of Co-Editor. 2. IDPR publishes papers across a broad range of topics including but not limited to: demographic change and urbanization, shelter and infrastructure provision, livelihoods and economic activities, transport and communication networks, governance and civil society, urban and rural development policy and planning, and sustainability and environmental change. 3. The current editorial team consists of two co-editors: Katherine Gough at Loughborough University and Daniel Hammett at the University of Sheffield. IDPR is published by Liverpool University Press http://online.liverpooluniversitypress.co.uk/loi/idpr 4. The retirement of the journal’s long-standing co-editor, Katherine Gough, is the reason for the vacancy. The successful applicant will begin in July 2018.

The Job 5. The new Co-Editor will be expected to: • Proactively seek journal content • Work with the co-editor to maintain the academic and professional standards of contributions, and to encourage healthy submission and rejection rates. • Act as a point of contact for intending contributors. • Find suitable referees for submitted manuscripts. • Use the online submission system, ScholarOne Manuscripts. • Assist the co-editor and the publishers in targeting potential contributors, readers and subscribers via academic institutions, governmental and non-governmental organisations, and academic and professional communities. • Represent the journal at conferences and other academic and professional meetings. • Attend a yearly editorial board meeting in Liverpool

Who Should Apply? 6. The ideal candidate will: • Be a vibrant and active member of the international academic community working in the field of global/international development • Have a good knowledge of cutting edge research and policy in the field • Have excellent networking skills, and extensive contacts • Have previous involvement with academic journals, for example, refereeing papers, guest-editing special issues, sitting on editorial boards • Be enthusiastic and organised

7. The Co-Editor can expect to receive: • Reasonable travel expenses for an annual meeting of co-editors. • A modest honorarium

The Selection Process 8. Applications should include the following information: name and contact details; why, in no more than 500 words, you think you would make a good co-editor; your ideas for developing the journal; other points in support of your application; a CV; names and contact details of two referees. 9.
