Call for Papers

To commemorate the 120th anniversary, Zhejiang University is pleased to host an International Doctoral Students Conference in May 2017 in Hangzhou, China. The conference is aimed at promoting the exchange of scientific research, ideological inspiration, cooperation and innovation among the world’s leading universities, as well as promoting the scientific and technological innovation capacity and competitiveness of doctoral candidates. The conference theme is Communication, Inspiration, Innovation and Common Progress: Opportunities and Chanllenges Arises from Global Technological Revelution. We are going to invite doctoral students from top universities worldwide to discuss on technological reform, information technology, modern agriculture, medical treatment and health care, as well as innovation and development. The conference is expected to build a platform for communication, inspiration, innovation and common progress, where students can express their understanding and expectations on global development and social transformation. The conference will include keynote speeches by famous

scholars, one plenary session and several seminars.

4. Target Participants Doctoral candidates from the world’s top universities, colleges, scientific institutes and laboratories.

5. Paper submission Research presentations shall be arranged according to five sub-themes: technological reform, information technology, modern agriculture, medical

treatment and health care, as well as innovation and development. The submitted papers should focus on, but not limited to, the themes below. (1) Technological Reform: Innovative Design, Smart Devices, Smart Manufacture and Other Applications Intelligent equipment and control technology New energy technology Civil engineering, hydraulic engineering and ocean engineering Aerospace technology Advanced manufacturing technology Nanotechnology (2) Information technology: Artificial Intelligence, Dig Data, Security of Cyberspace Data mining, data management and data analysis Signal and information processing Internet technology Computer graphics Artificial intelligence Information and cyberspace security (3) Modern Agriculture: Agricultural Modernization, Agricultural Science and Techonology, Agricultural Economy Agricultural, botanical animal science and their application Ecological agriculture and smart agriculture Agro-forestry economy management Rural construction and governance at grassroots level Eco-environment and resources protection (4) Medical Treatment and Healthcare: Precision Medicine, Updated Techniques and Results in Health Care, Medical Security Precision medicine

Public healthcare and global health Medical security Mental health and illness Strategies, updated techniques and methods Bioscience and biotechnology (5) Innovation and Development: Innovation, Business Startups, Sustainable Development Economic growth and regional economic integration Construction of innovation system and innovation capability Institutional innovation and sustainable development Education on innovation and business startups Literary and artistic innovation

6. Requirements of paper submission (1) All papers shall be submitted to [email protected] until the online system is available. (2) The subject of the e-mail should be named according to “name of school - name of seminars” (see the scope of submission), and the name of the paper should be named as “the title of paper - institutions- name of submitter”. (3) There will be two rounds of paper submission. The deadline of the first round is January 15, 2017. The deadline of the second round is February 28, 2017. Papers submitted during the first round will be given priority over those submitted during the second round. (4) The official languages of this conference are English and Chinese, exclusively. All submissions must be formatted correctly. Submissions that do not meet the guidelines will not be accepted. The official format and guidelines can be found in the annex. (5) The induvidual presenting the paper must be a doctoral candidate at the

time of submission. (6) In the case of multiple authors, the names of authors must be clearly listed in the abstract. The submitting author needs to ensure that the presentation of the paper is approved by the university and co-authors. (7) Both published and unpublished papers can be submitted, and the further publishing will not be affected. It should be noted that all of the accepted papers will be presented at the conference by poster or oral presentation. Participants must be fluent in English. (8) Notifications of acceptance or rejection will be sent by e-mail in late March 2017. The specific conference date and presentation notes will be specified in invitaion letters . 7. Awards This conference establishes several prizes including Best Paper Award and Best Presentation Award.

8. Extended Matters (1) The DSC does not charge registration fee. The one-way transport (which is only available for economy class tickets,hard-berth sleeper tickets and economy class on bullet trains, CRH) and accommodation in double-bed rooms (i.e. each room has two beds with two persons sharing one room) will be covered by host units. Participants who would like to book a single room (one bed) and/or who would like to extend their stay will need to pay extra fees. Participants are also encouraged to purchase their own travel insurance. (2) All of the accepted papers will be presented at the conference by poster or oral presentation. Participants must be fluent in English.

(3) The host will organize free visiting tours to state key labortories and excellent companies. (4) The enforcement rules and news feeds will be available at the official website of the 120th Anniversary of Zhejiang University http://120.zju.edu.cn/, and also the WeChat public platform of ZJU doctoral students union (wechat: zjudsu1999).
