KEYNOTE Professor Helen-Spencer Oatey Director, Centre for Applied Linguistics, University of Warwick Helen Spencer-Oatey’s educational background is in both linguistics and psychology. After many years teaching in the Far East, she established the first MA in Intercultural Communication in the UK at the University of Luton. A major focus of her current research at the University of Warwick is the development of intercultural skills, with a key focus on the internationalisation of higher education. In collaboration with Daniel Dauber, she has recently developed the Global Education Profiler – a diagnostic tool for identifying how global the learning environment is.

Dr. Fabrizio Trifiro Manager International, Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Fabrizio Trifiro leads on the QAA’s engagement with counterpart agencies overseas, undertakes reviews of TNE, and leads on the international student experience. He led the development of the Toolkit Cooperation in Cross-Border Higher Education: A Toolkit for Quality Assurance Agencies, as part of a project supported by the EU ‘Quality Assurance of CrossBorder Higher Education’ (QACHE), and has led the development of the QAA Guide to HE providers Strengthening and Enhancing the Experience of International Students in the UK.

Dr William Lee Mitchell Director of International Development, University of Bradford William Lee Mitchell joined the University of Bradford in 2013 and is responsible for the International Office (including offices in Beijing and Dubai) and the development of the University’s internationalisation strategy. His extensive experience includes developing core international partnerships at the University of Warwick, time spent as Director of Education for the British Council, and managing the Sino-UK collaboration programme between HEFCE and the Chinese Ministry of Education. He has also advised on trans-national education and distance learning for the British Council in the UK.
