Invitation to Halogen’s Charity Gala Dinner 2016 Dear Esteemed Partners, Since our inception in 2003, Halogen Foundation Singapore has reached out to more than 109,500 students from 22 countries and across 80% of the schools in Singapore, inspiring and influencing them to lead themselves and others well. As we forge towards our 13th year, we invite you to join us at our Charity Gala Dinner, as we celebrate our Breakthroughs as well as that of our youth. At Halogen, we believe that our youth are able to overcome their self-limiting beliefs and grow to their fullest potential. We are committed to imparting the essential knowledge, tools and skills to empower the youth to breakthrough their own boundaries. Since 2014, we have added an entrepreneurship suite to our strong leadership suite to reach out to youth from disadvantaged and underprivileged backgrounds. To date, we have successfully run 8 BizCamps and 4 In-Curriculum Programmes, impacting up to 300 disadvantaged youths. Each of the youth was equipped with the entrepreneurial mindsets and skills necessary for him or her to create his or her own future; a future that can be radically different from how he or she started out. We want to be able to continue to push the boundary in making youth leadership and entrepreneurship development an impactful and relevant endeavour. It is the partnerships that we forged that allow us to build an ecosystem conducive for building young leaders and entrepreneurs. Your support and presence at our Charity Gala Dinner will go a long way in helping us achieve continuous breakthroughs. We look forward to breaking new frontiers with you, for youth. "We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can always build our youth for the future". - Franklin D. Roosevelt.

About Halogen

Founded in 2003, Halogen Foundation (Singapore) is a values-based not-for-profit Institution of Public Character (IPC) that is focused on building young leaders and entrepreneurs. As part of a holistic leadership and entrepreneurship development for youths, Halogen designs events to inspire, academy programmes to educate, projects to generate action, an award to recognise exceptional young leaders and builds social communities to facilitate conversations.

In 2014, we also intensified our efforts in reaching out to youths from disadvantaged and underprivileged families, through an entrepreneurship programme, Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) which we successfully licensed from the United States.

Halogen organised 3 pilot runs of the NFTE programme in 2014 and we have managed to impact more than 200 Normal Technical Stream students from 11 schools. We have received many positive feedback from principals and teachers from participating schools, as well as the many corporate volunteers, who gave their time and energy to mentor the students and to assess their business plans. Beyond 2016, we want to do more to transform youths from disadvantaged and underprivileged families into more socially and economically responsible individuals, through our leadership and entrepreneurship programmes. For example, we are in strategic discussions with partners like the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) to roll out the NFTE programmes for ITE students. We believe that the NFTE programme will help us achieve the larger objectives of (1) enhancing social mobility and reducing elitism; and (2) building an enduring and dynamic culture for entrepreneurship in Singapore. This is also in line with the government's aim to promote skills and experience as an alternative pathway to academic achievements, through SkillsFuture, for an individual to build his or her career and future.

The NFTE programme has a 28 year proven track record in equipping youths with lifelong entrepreneurship skills that cuts across all industries and sectors for them to build their careers and their future. !

The Spark Fund Launch in 2016 Commencing in 2016, the Spark Fund offers Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) Class Scholarships to needy youth to embark on a one-year entrepreneurship education journey. It costs slightly less than $1,000 to put one needy student through this one-year entrepreneurship programme.

Fund Description Halogen is launching The Spark Fund in 2016 to provide entrepreneurship education for youth from poor, needy, disadvantaged, dysfunctional, marginalised and challenged families and/or are at risks. We believe our youth have great potential to become positive agents for change and positive influencers of the community. The needy youth also have this great potential to shine and must not be left behind or ignored. We seek to transform these street smart, less academically smart individuals into business smart individuals through entrepreneurship education. The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship programme, with a 28 year proven track record from the USA, will help us empower these needy youth with lifelong skillsets and mindsets and for them to build for their careers and future. We hope to also contribute to larger objectives of: 1. enhancing social mobility and reducing elitism; and 2. building an enduring and dynamic culture for entrepreneurship in Singapore.

Contributing to the Fund - Founding Circle: We are reaching out to you to be part of the founding circle of corporations and donors of The Spark Fund. Founders may opt for a $25,000 founding contribution towards the fund (for both individuals and corporates). Naming rights will be granted for 3 years for a founding contribution of $100,000. - Spark Scholarships: We also invite you to support students under the Spark scholarship scheme. You may become a Spark Supporter for as little as $1,000, a Spark Hero for a donation of between $1,000 and $5,000 or be a Spark SuperHero for a contribution of $10,000 or more. For each $1,000 contribution, you enable one student to complete the one-year entrepreneurial programme. With your help, we hope to raise a starting pool of $500,000 and support over 500 students.
