January 2018

A Message From The President Dear Members, Happy New Year!!! 2018 has arrived!!! I’d like to take moment to thank all of the people that support our Chapter. Without our Board of Directors, Past-Presidents, event sponsors, speakers, volunteers and members we would not be able to provide the many services to our business community that we do. I am grateful to each person that contributes their time and resources to our Chapter and am proud to be part of such a wonderful organization. Thank you to all who attended our Holiday Networking Event featuring a Comedy Night on December 12, 2017. It was a fun evening with the comedians from Haft2Laugh Productions who kept the audience practically in tears from laughing so much.  Thank you to all who donated toys to The John Theissen Foundation. John was present to accept the table full of toys that were donated.   I am also happy to say that your food donations totaling 214 pounds to Long Island Harvest helped provide to our Long Island Families in need.  This evening also was an opportunity for our Chapter to honor our Past Presidents for their continuous dedication and service to our Chapter. It is a testament to our Chapter as whole how our Past Presidents remain so involved and it was with great honor that I was able to introduce them all.

We begin the New Year with our January 9, 2018 meeting which promises to be very exciting. Our presenter is Joe Campolo, Esq., Managing Partner of Campolo, Middleton & McCormick, LLP. He will be speaking about “Everything Is a Negotiation.” Please remember our January 23, 2018 breakfast event, Beyond Budgeting – Turning Budgets into Hands on Tools featuring Bradley Chadwick and Ryan Maupin, both of Grant Thornton LLP. Breakfasts are free to members ($25 to non-members) and grant 2 CPE credits. Our re-designed website, www.longisland.imanet. org is a great resource to sign up for events, access Chapter newsletters, learn about the Certified Management Accountant program, link to IMA Global and to reach other members. If you belong to LinkedIn, I invite you to connect with me! I wish you and your families a happy and peaceful Happy New Year! ~Carmela “What’s the good of living if you don’t try a few things?” - Charles M. Schulz
