PELHAM ATHLETES PARTICIPATE IN "WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA" EVENT For the third year in a row, athletes from Pelham High and Pelham Park Middle devoted their time to assist with the annual Wreaths Across America event at the Alabama National Cemetery. Several students and coaches arrived early the morning of the event and helped unload wreaths from trucks before the ceremony, and then joined hundreds of spectators in laying wreaths at the tombstones of thousands of fallen service men and women. ELEMENTARY STUDENTS COMPETE IN "E3" EXPERIENCE AT MONTEVALLO After several weeks of preparation, students from Pelham Oaks & Pelham Ridge recently participated in the Engaging Elementary Engineers (E3) Experience at the University of Montevallo. Hundreds of elementary students from Alabama attended the event where they were challenged to apply their understanding of STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) concepts in competitions involving planetary rovers, space shelters, and egg drop contraptions. Congratulations to the Pelham Oaks team who placed 3rd in the Space Shelter competition!

occasion to let our board members know how much we appreciate their dedication to our students, our schools, and our community. This year's theme is aptly named "Making a World of Difference". Our board members commit countless hours of their time and provide valuable insight and leadership that guides the direction of our school system and truly does make a difference. Our school board members are Rick Rhoades, President; Angie Hester, VicePresident; Paul Howell; Sharon Samuel; and Allan Wade. If you see them out in the schools or in our community, take a moment to thank them for their leadership and dedication to our schools!

INCLEMENT WEATHER MAKE UP DAY SET FOR FEBRUARY 19 Pelham City Schools were closed on Friday, December 8, 2017 due to snow and hazardous road conditions. The governor did not declare a State of Emergency on that day. Therefore, according to state law, local school systems are required to make up the day. The school calendar has Monday, February 19, 2018 designated as a professional development day for teachers when no students would attend school. Pelham City Schools will use that day as the required make-up day for the instructional time missed on December 8. All faculty, staff, and students should be in attendance at school on February 19, 2018.

Pelham High School Students Invited to Take Part in Polar Plunge Saturday, January 13 from 8 am - noon Oak Mountain State Park The Polar Plunge is an annual event that benefits Special Olympics Alabama. This year, a friendly competition among area high schools will take place to see which school can raise the most money for the cause. The winning school will receive a pep rally hosted by iHeart Radio! Click here for more information.
