JOB DESCRIPTION EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CARE CHEST OF SIERRA NEVADA Summary The Executive Director (ED) acts as the Chief Executive Officer of CARE Chest of Sierra Nevada. This includes working with the Board of Directors, Advisory and Executive Boards, committee chairs, staff, donors and potential donors, other non-profits, foundations, government officials and other organizations as necessary. In this capacity, the incumbent is responsible for implementation of policies set by the Board of Directors as well as annual goals and objectives, financials, and administrative management of CARE Chest of Sierra Nevada. Guidance and direction are provided by the President of the Board, Executive Committee, and the Board. The ED works with the Board of Directors to raise funds and secure grants. The ED is responsible for finances, communication, staff management, and interfacing with the community. Duties and Responsibilities (this list is not intended to be exclusive): Fundraising The Board and the ED share the responsibility for ensuring CARE Chest of Sierra Nevada has the resources it needs to meet strategic objectives. ED will work with the Development Committee to ensure plans are in place for the generation of resources according to CARE Chest of Sierra Nevada’s annual budget as approved by the Board. Develop and implement yearly successful grant program including the development of comprehensive follow-up reports. Develop and implement individual and corporate fundraising programs. Work with appropriate committees to organize effective fundraising events as intended by the Fundraising Committee. Oversee planning and management of all revenue generating events and activities. Community Relations Oversee annual marketing plan which includes periodic newsletters, web-site maintenance, printed communication and fundraising materials and effective press and public relations communications. Initiate and maintain communication with relevant government agencies and representatives. Develop and implement annual report as approved by the Board of Directors. Attend or delegate attendees to relevant local events and meetings. Develop and maintain relationships with appropriate community leaders, funders, and other stakeholders. Staff Management Responsible for staff management and evaluation. Interview, hire, lead, coach, and inspire team members. Plan, assign, and direct work and evaluate performance; reward and discipline employees. Address complaints and resolve problems. Ensure staff meets project goals in a timely manner.

Fiscal and Operational Management Responsible for the financial management of CARE Chest of Sierra Nevada, including the development and implementation of the annual budget. Oversee the development and maintenance of effective systems and procedures for fiscal management and operational management. Report financials on a monthly basis or as dictated by the Board. Ensure all required government reporting, tax preparation and paperwork is completed on schedule and current. Program and Service Delivery Oversee design, delivery, and evaluation of programs and services. Strategic Planning Provide information, advice, and counsel to the President, Board Committees, and the Board of Directors in the creation of policies, programs, and strategic direction of CARE Chest of Sierra Nevada. Administration of overall operation of CARE Chest of Sierra Nevada including reviewing and evaluating the results of program activities; ensuring continued contractual obligations are being fulfilled; allocating resources for greater program effectiveness and efficiency; and developing organizational and administrative policies and program objectives for Board consideration. Work with the Board to set and periodically review CARE Chest of Sierra Nevada's strategic goals, ensure the strategic goals are met and ensure sufficient resources are available to achieve strategic goals. Board Administration and Support Responsible for regular updates and communication with Board, Executive Committee, and staff. Attend all regular Board meetings, and attend Board Committee meetings as needed. Plan Annual Board Retreat. Reporting Relationships ED will report directly to the Board. All staff members report to the Executive Director. Qualification Requirements  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The incumbent must have a valid driver's license and a satisfactory criminal records check.  Education and/or Experience: College degree in a related field, increasingly responsible administrative experience, at least five years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity, or combination of education and experience.  Language and Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, financial reports, legal documents, technical procedures or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; efficiently respond to questions from the Board of Directors, donors, staff and members of the community; communicate effectively in both written and oral form; and effectively present information to membership, top management, public groups, and/or the Board of Directors.  Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw





valid conclusions; exhibit independent judgment in the development, implementation and evaluation of plans, procedures and policies; and interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the principles and techniques of grant administration; contract administration and negotiation; hospital administration; community organizations; fiscal and organizational management; principles and practices of marketing and public relations. Ability to plan, direct and coordinate activities: Negotiate and administer contracts; work with health care providers, commercial vendors, government agencies, community groups and other organizations as necessary; communicate effectively in both written and oral forms; and exhibit independent judgment in the development, implementation and evaluation of plans, procedures and policies.

Compensation Pay will be based on experience, skills and overall financial performance of the organization.
